I felt the run up to the ending sequence was quite unsatisfactory. Where as soon as you aquire

the Apple of Eden, it jumps skips so many passages of time, that it feels like an episode of Sliders. And the fact they give you the one-inch-punch to massacre foes with felt a little bah.

. Which is a shame, as I did enjoy the sequence running up to that point. I preferred the flow of Ass Creed 2 better.
And indeed about the ending. Double-you-tee-eff indeed.

Would it be too far out for the next game

to be set in the future after the world has been destroyed by the solar flare event. However, some peeps survive underground (the voices during the credits) and use the Animus to take control of Desmond who replaces Ezio Rigatoni as the main character. Ezio could still appear as a ghost, which I thought worked really well in Brotherhood, but I guess you would have to ditch the Italian historical setting and put it in modern day Europe.

        Does that work?

Still loving this game, playing short bursts of the online in the weekday evenings as a quick 15 minute burst can be fitted in quite easily and saving the single player campaign for the weekends.

Loving the multiplayer so much, mostly still using a smoke bomb and morph combination even though most of the other moves are unlocked now, I barely use them!

Really getting into this one now (having finished AC2 a couple of weeks ago!), have just started to build up my brotherhood. The game on the whole is better than AC2 I think however I'm finding the amount of stuff to do slightly overwhelming.

As impressive as Rome is I did like having lots of smaller cities in the previous game. Seemed more managable.

Really enjoying it though. The one-off missions (such as war machines) are really well done. Have only had a quick go on multiplayer and it seems ok but can't see it lasting long.

So what are peoples thoughts on the ending?

The voices at the end, have they done an 'inception' and Desmond has been in an animus ALL along or since the last game, in an elaborate ruse to get him to use his ancestry to find the Apple.

That was my reading of it, yes. Either that, or:

the templars are using someone to animus *Lucy's* memories, which is why having her die has caused the 'reaction' the voices are talking about

I still reckon desmond is in it, but perhaps minerva's people are using their special powers to control him, so we would desynchronise or go into shock and break free?

Something i have come across that may help people on here; My parachutes have gone missing, i have 15 in my inventory but now they don't show up when i have my hidden blade equipped. Apparently the game 'forgets' that you have them and to remind it you need to buy more. When you have a full inventory you can't do this; so the trick is to go into your DNA menu and start a Lair of Romulus then quit out. Entering the Lair of Romulus the game remove any parachutes you have so when you quit out you will be back to zero and can buy more at a shop. Huzzah!

I think as Lairs of Romulus are puzzles of a sort they want to control what tools you have to solve them, and parachutes are evidently out.

You don't ever 'lose' them, it just forgets to show you own any. If you jump off and use one, it'll pop out just fine. I only used them to get the achievement anyway, they don't really seem to have any actual proper gameplay use.

Played some more online last night and I've got up to level 31. Had a nice moment with poison where I posioned my target and then he stunned me, ending the contract. He then died 15 seconds later and I still got 700 points! Other than that I actually hate poison for all the missed kills I have had by not being quite close enough for it to work, wasting a shot at a normal kill that has a much greater range.

Finished the single player last night after god knows how many hours. Didn't complete all the guild contracts or do all the collectathons but did what I felt was enough! Still need to go back and complete the subject 17 stuff mind.

All in all I thought this was a fantastic game. Some great level design in the one-off special missions (war machines, underground stuff) and despite it being a massive game I never seemed to get bored or find it repetitive. As Ryan from GiantBomb says, stabbing people in the face just doesn't get old in this.

I loved the ending too, thought that was really well done.

Funny one this, I've just finished it after spending the New Years bank hol weekend ploughing through it and though it might just be because I've come off the back of the POP trilogy, this one seemed to flow better for me than the first two. It's mostly expansion pack style fluff. Sure there's more than you'd get in DLC but collecting flags, feathers and towers is the kind of retro collectorthon I tired of a generation ago. The missions seem better thought out here though. The controls can still be too muddled and the set ups a bit contrived (a tower with a cutting edge device at the top... and no means of accessing the roof for the conventional soldiers who are supposed to be using it? Nope, just poles for a trained assassin to climb!) but there's some nice set pieces and the action is more balanced here than I found 1 and 2 to have.

Rome is nicely realised but largely a less appealing location than Florence and Venice but main praise goes to the vastly improved future sections. After this one I'm fully ready for a new setting with the no-doubt-out-this-November Assassins Creed 3. Mainly, it managed to pull back my interest in the series.

The only air of concern is the last couple of Sequences which as people have said jump around in a very broken manner. My guess is they'll fill the gaps in with DLC like with AC2 which is a bad way of doing things as they're spoiling the main game for the sake of mission packs.

I don't buy he was never out the Animus, I think they where followed and it was a setup because going through the first bit I am sure there was another male voice that wasn't Shaun over the headset. I think they where followed by Abstergo.

Also read the wiki and something about Juno referencing the Templars, also she mentions he is a birth of their enemies.

Also what relevant data can they get from putting him back into the Animus anyway. I assume he needs to go back in to find whoever this woman is who is meant to travel with him as they cannot see her. Speculating she may no longer exist.

I didn't find this as good as Assassins Creed 2, can really tell they spent a chunk of time on the multiplayer thus the quality overall suffered. Yep the first game was a bit rough and had boring missions but it was forgiveable as it was 3-4 years ago and everyone was still finding their feet.

There was a lot of reuse and the level design was just lacking in places. Also hated the return of the flying machine. It was ****e in the second one why extend it into a full mission?

It was a passable effort I suppose. I wish they had done what they set out to do and done the Trilogy and made the third one epic. I guess this is okay as filler. Nothing more.
