new posts

It's now on Ver 1.11 and has new seasonal events (Nascar, TT and Drift).
I'm still hoping for a GT 5.5 with improved tracks (more + better looking).

not sure i dare drag this thread up again

but a small gift today (ahead of the spec 2 download on tuesday) a free red bull x2010, plus a suzuka time trial in the car with a 5 million credit prize.
its dead easy, but still great.

As Fuddle says, a big update is in store for GT5 this week. Spa is finally going to be included in a GT game.

Bassman & Darwock will be pleased!

To be honest I have hardly touched GT5 since the PSN crash. I went on the other week and am currently in the process of getting the Red Bull X2010 onto all my accounts.

The download today was around 1.1 Gb. This included interiors for all cars, though the Standards are simplified. A nice incentive is the increase in Money and Experience you get which builds up over 5 days to 200% which should speed things up a bit. There are some new NASCAR 2011 cars and a Nissan GT-R driven by Kaz to a class win at the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

There will be DLC for the game available on October 18th which I presume will include Spa (didn't know about that).

Tried it last night and I'm a bit meh. It's nice to be able to save endurance races while in the bits. The standard car interiors are must needed but are just last gen style black borders with no wipers either. Even after all the patches, and large update I still think it's barely a 7 out of 10 for me.

Did you stop because you could no longer play online or was it a catalyst if you were getting a bit worn out with the grinding? Someone else said that there was a special event for the Red Bull X2010 after Vettel won the F1 Championship but have no idea if it?s still available.

Either way, you were instrumental in prolonging the life of GT5 for me and many others on NTSC-UK so I thank you again!

I just got bored with the game. The PSN crash got me onto other games (subsequently TDU2 on the 360 which I have been playing for a good while now). I also managed a decent selection of free stuff on various accounts (UK, US and Japanese - the US one being the best... of course) when PSN returned.

Until October 17th you get a free Red Bull liveried X2010 sent to your game courtesy of Vettel's Championship. For the same period you get a Special Event of driving an X2010 around Suzuka. You get a running start lap of 1:25 to beat (for $5,000,000). If you stay on the track long enough it ought not be that difficult as I managed around 1:30 with too many excursions.

All the later Special Event race series now give new helmets and uniforms which can be swapped to your character in the game and also can be used on your drivers (though I have yet to figure out how to do the latter). I have done a few of these newer events, but I will be leaving them for 5 days, so that I can double the money and experience I get from them when I complete a few more.

I now have sorted all my drivers so I assume they are available if anyone still uses them. I will of course wait to get the money and experience currently outstanding (unfortunately not very much) until I can double it in 5 days!

Stuck this on today for first time since December to get the Spec 2.0 update! In all, there were 9 updates to download. It took HOURS.

Played a few races on the car I was previously used, Alfa Romeo Brera. Heap of ****e. So sold off most of my cars and bought my fave car in the world, the legendary Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nur. Done one race, bit too heavy in the corners for my liking, causing some understeer so chucked a few weight reduction packages in there and it's perfect. Love it. It's a dream to drive. Just a pity I prefer the in car view so I can't see it while driving it.

Quite enjoyed my brief stint with this today anyway, we'll see how it goes over an extended period of time. I don't like grinding and I don't like driving stupid or crap cars, so as long as I can race in cars I like then I'll be happy. As long as the AI isn't completely twatish.

Okay, is this game completely broken or is it just my PS3.

I'm in GT Mode, I go to Arcade to do a race but realise my car isn't in my favourites menu (which in itself is stupid), so I have to go back to main menu and back to GT Mode to add it (which is also ****ing stupid), when I go back to the main menu, it takes about 30 seconds to load the animation of the guy walking past all the helmets, then it lets me move the cursor, not before. So I go to GT Mode and add the favourites and back to the main menu. This time it loads instantly within seconds and lets me choose Arcade straight away. I do a race and go back to main menu as I want to go play online. This time the main menu sits for about 3 minutes and by that time I give up and turn it off.

This has happened to me countless times in the last 2 days playing this. Some menus just take forever to load having just opened them minutes before in seconds. It seems broken. Not everyones game can do that surely? I even have it installed on the HDD.

The menus are just annoying full stop, although I don't remember the behaviour you talk of.

Also from your previous post I too prefer the in car view but on some games I do play so I can see the car without any real issues. I don't know if it is just me but on GT5 the out-of-car view handling is so broken I physically couldn't control the cars, particularly when using a wheel!

                      Comment

Yeh it looks a bit dodgy using the chase view. Boat like handling somehow.

And what's the deal again with not being able to upgrade your brakes?!

I made a few more changes to my Skyline but it still understeers like a bitch. Dunno if the car just doesn't have a very wide turning circle at all or something.

Enjoying the reinvigorating 2.0 patch good to see some improvements. Nice to see a bit if new A.I been doing some if my missing races. Need to do some endurance n save in-between. Looking forward to NASCAR online.

Wow, online is annoying. People have no class. Started a race around the Nurburgring in my Skyline knowing I'd struggle to not come last as other cars were more powerful. About a third of the way around the track someone just shunts me from behind which I can't believe was a mistake as it was so hard. I fly into the barrier and wrecked my car.

Version 2.01 update is there. 112 Mb this time. This is for a new Online B Class event. I haven't checked it out yet, but will give it a try later and see what it is about... at least I have the 200% Bonus in place.

Just a heads up that I was talking about this same problem on another forum. I keep getting stuck on the main animation screen for ages before I can move the cursor. It was pointed out to me that it is in fact the game not being able to communicate with the servers. As soon as it does you can move the cursor. They said you can test it by not having your console online and it working fine - and it does indeed fix it. Although of course it is hardly ideal.
