This came out today (if anyone missed it) and Ive subsequently had a few goes (or "loops" as it actualy is) on it.
Epic have been making a big deal about how this game will be the one to really solidify iDevices status as proper gaming platforms and after playing it a bit I think Im pretty much in agreement wth them.
It looks as stunning as everyone as expected, but it also plays great too, its mainly all combat, theres a little exploration but its mainly just scanning an area and tapping to pick up object or open chests, theres no virtual stick on screen or anything like that which im sure will please loads of people.
The combat itself is great, you can block, parry, dodge, slash, use special attack and loads of different types of magic and its all done in a way that is designed for a touch screen, so it feels perfectly implemented (they have you use magic by drawing different shapes on the screen for instance)
Theres also a levling up system which is relitivley complex as you not only gain experience for killing enemies, but you actualy drain Xp from the weapons and armour you use, which means its best the mix up the equipiment you use on a regular basis so that you earn as much xp you can at all times, as a result you have to really think about the balance between using weapons and equipment you like and ones that will give you more xp.
As mentioned the game is played on a loop, kinda like a shmup, wether you complete the quest or not you always start again back at the begining as the son of the guy you played as the time before. All your levels and equipment are transfered over though and enemies are alot harder, its an intresting feature and another that makes this game pretty unique.
So overall I would deffinitley say the hype was true, it really is fantastic.
