I'm now about 78% through the Grand Prix mode, after 15 hours of gameplay according to the activity log. The game itself reckon I've done about half that.

This game is crack, and I can't stop playing it. >_<!

I'm also happy to say that it hits the spot as far as difficulty's concerned, which was a huge gripe of mine with the PSP version being way too easy. I'm just finishing off the remaining few silver medals that I've got on Category 1 events before I go into Expert Grand Prix...

Brilliant, brilliant game, very colourful, and an excellent addition to the ridge series.

And not good when you come to clean up either, you'd need water to soften the crust.

I'm gonna get this one 2nd hand. Just re-rinsed the PSP version 100% again a couple of months back, currently sick of RR.

      Glad it's good though.

I had to go 14 tournaments, that's 56 races, before coming first stopped being a given, no matter what I did. They really need to sort that because it just feels like I may as well be driving on my own. So now I'm finally at least getting to a point where I have come 2nd (twice) and the challenge that should be there in, say, the first three minutes of the game finally comes into play.

I kind of agree, but then that's always going to be the case to a degree with sequels. The game has to start out doable for newcomers, and so it's going to be easy for anyone who's played others before.
Also, ridge is as much about going for times rather than just finishing first, no?

I've only done about 6 tourneys, no problems at all finishing first, but still enjoying it plenty.

Sure. But starting out easy is like one or two tournaments. Not having the other cars throw 56 races. Especially when, as it is, the car in RR basically drives itself around corners once you start a drift.

If it's about the times, what's the point in having other racers at all and going through the pretense that it's a racing game? I've just been playing Type 4 on the PSP and, in that, even in the very early easy races, you feel like you earned it. I'm finding it hard to feel satisfaction in this RR game.

Because the game wasn't written just for you. The opposition cars make it a challenge for some people. Now you've got to a point where it's a challenge for you. That level is probably still too easy for some people, and too hard for others. No idea how many but there are shed-loads of tournaments, I've done 8 now and I'm still in "beginner" grand prixs, so I'd expect it to be easy.

Yeah, that's the trouble with stuff like this, when I get to tricky bits I guess I start sub-consciously twisting the controller, or entire machine with the 3DS, so I start seeing double just when I'm trying to focus the most, so I've started playing it in 2D. I guess I could train myself to stop doing it, but it annoys me when I have to retry races, so I don't want any extra factors getting in the way. I'm on Category 1 races now, so winning the last race is starting to get tricky - depending on the track at least. Some of them seem too narrow and twisty for high speeds, I prefer tracks with a nice thythm to the corners rather than just bombarding you with them.

It's starting to get tricky, so I've started buying the automatic rocket start and 3 nitro's, and in one of the harder races I ended up in first at the end of the first lap! The game seems to have a noticeable elastic band to the AI, if you crash, they slow down and they'll often use nitrous when you do, so you normally have to work hard to break away from one group to catch up with the next, so i dunno how I ended up in 1st after one lap!

Didn't really expect much from this based on the screens and videos pre-release. And whilst there are definitely signs that it was probably rushed for launch (frame rate, some poor textures, only 8 cars per race) it definitely looks a lot better in motion. 3D effect has definitely helped in this regard. As my first experience of 3D gaming I find it really effective.

Plays like classic Ridge which is naturally a good thing. And absolutely love the soundtrack.

Finished the single player campaign today, 3DS reckons I put 30 hours into it.

I really enjoyed it once I passed the first 20%, those first races are insultingly easy.

Anyone got any Street Pass action with this one yet?

Yeah, it's got one of the better RR sound tracks, better than Rage Racer, Type 4, 6 and 7, that's for sure. What tunes are people selecting for this? I usually have My Crazy Chainsaw, Rotten7 Remix and Dr. Mad's Gone, which all have plenty of energy, but then I have to pick at least one more, Radiance is good, but hasn't got thhat much energy, and there's others with more energy than Radiance, but they aren't as good...

                            Hi folks,

Picked this game up along with my 3DS on Friday (walked right into my local Tesco Extra store and got the 3DS unit for ?175 and game for ?29). Anyway, colour me impressed! Im a huge Ridge fan and I am finding this whole experience totally awesome. So awesome in fact that I decided to dedicate my entire latest blog post to it here:

                            Cheers fellas!

Right. Is it just me, or have the Expert GP elimination races been created specifically to be unwinnable? Seriously, this is the worst case of cheating AI I have ever, ever seen and my interest in this game is starting to drop like a lead balloon.

Even with a perfect race, you can be miles ahead of your opponents, and all of a sudden they'll get massive amounts of nitrous, or just a huge burst of speed, and fly past you at the end of the first lap so you fail. If you try to block your opponent, they just keep getting faster and faster and faster and faster. You can reach ridiculous speeds that surpass your nitrous just by consistently blocking your opponent, it seems they're programmed to just pass you no matter what.

                              Poor show.

This sounds like the races against the Angel and Devil cars in old Ridge. Frustrating, lots of blocking involved... but YOU CAN DO IT!
