I would have thought that was unlikely - I don't think Nintendo have put English options into any of their other games. Hope I'm wrong though

It's not as if Mario Kart games have ever really had any options menus, is it? English or Japanese, you're going to be able to understand it just fine.

This will be my first JPN GC game that I will actually keep, as opposed to replacing it with the US equivalent.

I would go for the normal free shipping. It usually arrives within the week and no import tax. I've heard if you use the courrier service you are prone to being stung by Mr Customs

I am waiting for the USA version primarily so that if this portal stuff comes to pass, its more likely that playing with Americans will happen than the less PC reliant Japanese.

English Language + Getting It As Soon As Possible=PAL Version for me.

The english text and Bonus disc were my deciding factors in getting the Usa version.

For some reason I'm unable to run Gamecube games via Freeloader, as they always come out in B&W. Weird, as my 'cube is a modded JP version that runs fine normally...

And thus, I opted for the Japanese version.

Played it today for the 1st time and I love it!
When you select both your characters you can choose from some karts but not all. Its basically one from the default kart of the characters you choose and several that corrospond to your characters size. Bowser can choose a Donkey Kong or Wario kart whereas Diddy can go for Yoshi or Peach.

The game is slowish on 50cc but on 150cc its easily as fast if not faster than the other versions, so the main fear of all the previews has now gone away IMO. Its no F-Zero but it doesn't need to be.
The multiplayer is also really fast with only a minimal drop in graphical quality when 4 people are playing. There are several new weapons, all which work fantastically.

As for people worried about the Jap version well its a racing game with controlls easy to work out so there is no real reason not to get it.
I just want Playasia to magically send my Jap copy out before the official launch date of the 7th. I really haven't been this excited about a game since I very 1st got my import cube.
