Don't all VT games have a ball trail?

yes but its way too OTT in this one. Its a colour-fail!

Totally agree about the ball trail, it makes it look stupid.

It's a shame the move support is utterly ****e as well.

So another Move failure here? Oh well, what a shock.

I'm interested in VT4 since Hitmaker is back on board. Gotta say that I hated VT3 but that was mostly due to those players diving all over the place. I always enjoyed the first 2.

VT2 is absolutely the stand out game in the series but they've let it get stale since then with no real new ideas and alterations that made the followups inferior.

Haven't played VT4 yet but I'd really like to try that demo that's exclusive to PSN....

It's funny, the main thing everyone talks about in VT3 was the diving. I'll agree it can be excessive. But you can control it, unlike Jean Gray. Just don't spam the hit button outside of your range. You get used to the reach zones of the players so you know when it will trigger.

But back onto VT4 - It's ok. Better than that wreck that was VT2009 but it has a few things missing. Like a dive. There were times I went for the ball and in VT3 they would've dived but in this, they'll do a delayed whiff shot and miss. The selection of players in VT4 have got to be the most lacklustre so far. All baseliners. Then again, it's symptomatic of modern tennis.

Going back to VT3 today, it plays better.
There's a more variety of player styles which VT4 doesn't have. For example, they don't have a player with a strong backhand (Nalbandian) serve and volleyer (Henman/ Dent) and extra big server (Ancic)

I still need to put a bit more lab time into it, but the players don't feel as individual as they did in VT3. Even though Nadal and Grosjean were rated as 'fast runner' trait in # 3 Nadal has a wicked forehand with great angles off it. Grosjean had a steadier all round hit selection, with possibly a better backhand, but definitely a better serve than Nadal.

I've played VT3 mainly on the Xbox, and I somehow remember as that version being significantly worse than the in-house developed Ps3 version. I think that in the times I played it on the Ps3, the diving was less apparent.

It's only a Move failure because they made it Kinect compatible too. If they'd stuck to the original idea, it would have been amazing.

After the utter pants demo I was expecting the worse, but seeing as it's Wimbledon and It's been a while since Pt 3 I picked this up and so glad I did. It's the same old classic gameplay with a great deal of hidden depth and greatly improved graphics some neat touches like the super shot and some of the new mini games are utter classics in their own right

Really please the final game plays so much faster than the demo too. SEGA really needs to sort out it's **** demo code it lets out

Does this game support local co-op doubles? Fancy a tennis game what with the Australian open happening and all...

It does but I'd strongly recommend TopSpin 4 instead. I've always been a Virtua Tennis guy but TopSpin really nailed it this year.

I was looking to play it with the mrs. Is Top Spin as easy as Virtua Tennis to pick up and play? Does it also have co-op doubles?

Yes, it has co-op double both offline and online. I play TopSpin and VT with the Mrs and she prefers TopSpin

If you want another option, try Grand Slam Tennis 2. There is a demo available and I found it better than all of them.

Top Spin is more difficult to start with but there's a demo you can try. I'm gonna try out the Grand Slam 2 demo. Grand Slam 1 on Wii with motion plus advanced controls was impressively realistic but difficult and tiring. With a pad it should be much easier.
