    Bangai-O (xbla)

put quite a bit of time into this game today. Its not a hd port it looks like a complete redone with several new gameplay features

so far i have found it VERY hard (still cannot do the 5th level) if you die to many times it gives you the option to go to the next level

levels have conditions like you have certain weapons or perhaps you cannot use the counter attack there is a new gameplay feature where you can use a seperate meter for a dash attack or to freeze enemies if stationary but this meter also acts as a multipler if you use the RT button several times during a counter attack

Still plays like bangai o and thats fine by me very satisfying when you do a full counter attack

Played the trial last night. I've played Bangai-O before, both on the DC and DS, so I knew what to expect. Anyone else, however, BEWARE!

I doubt they will get many sales of this given the trial versions 3 levels. Without a sort of hand-holding tutorial I ploughed into level one and died within literally one second! I can imagine most would quit a few times after this never to return or purchase.

I'm hovering over the BUY for a bit, this seems a lot like the DS version. What the trial version didn't make clear was if it ever recorded that you completed a level. I did level 1 and 2 but there was nothing logged on the screen to say that I'd finished the level. If the full version doesn't do this either I would find it hard to work out levels I had done out of the 100 supplied.

I forgot to buy a points card earlier today so now I won't be able to play this tonight, one of the few new games I want to play .

I wish it had the bonkers type of storyline like the DC version did.

Wait, there isnt a tutorial in the trial version???

The tutorial in the full game is relativley important, it covers quite a few essential gameplay menchanics, some of which will even be new to people who have played the older games, nevermind people who havent.

There is also a "how to play" section in the menu that is about 30 pages long, I imagine that is in the trial is it not?

Anyway the game is absolubtley fantastic, looking at the achievments not only does it have loads of new levels but it also has every single level from the original game (I presume that means the DC one). And a level editor to boot.

            Fantastic value at 800 points.

Do enemy deaths produce fruit like the DC version?

Yeah they do, and the fruit you collect then fills up both your life bar and the guage that lets you use your counter attack.

Great game upon first impressions, the first XBLA title I've bought asap so close to release since Rez.

Still a shame the insane storyline is gone, but this is still a great game and I wish more stuff like this was still being produced. Loved it on the DC.

Downloaded the trial, figured I'd jump straight into the game without reading the guide (which is 29 'pages') in the 'Help and Options' section. Big mistake!

Cue instant death, button mashing and cries of WTF! is going on here.

Great game, aside from the insane story this is pretty much on par with the DC game I think. Really tough as well, the first boss keeps one shotting me .

This is bloody fantastic. It's like the Dreamcast version multiplied by ten, brilliant!

Wasn't 500 missiles the max in this? Now you can fire off 1000 on a x4 multiplier, bwahahahaha!

Yes, if people jump into this without knowing about how the counter missiles / counter missile multiplier works they're going to be seriously turned off by the difficulty, but this is definitely on the same league as the legendary Dreamcast version and miles ahead of the DS version.

I like the fact that they've used the same music as the DC version too.

Underneath your HP bar in the top left, you've got a counter missile gauge.

If you hold in LT, you'll start charging up a counter missile. This costs one gauge.

The effectiveness / amount of counter missiles is directly relevant to the amount of stuff that's about to hit you and cause you serious pain. So if there's tons of missiles and bullets coming towards you, hold in LT, wait for it all to get as close as possible, Then release.

Depending on the amount of danger you're in, you'll fire off anything from 100 to 1000 missiles. These will fire off in all directions unless you hold the right thumbstick in a certain direction, then it'll fire them all off that way.

The counter missile multiplier is where you hold in LT, and then press RT. This will use up an additional gauge and make the counter missiles much more powerful. You can do this up to a 4x multiplier.

Unleashing a 1000 x4 counter missile is just STUPID. *EVERYTHING* explodes
