I am really enjoying this, the game is not without its faults but these have little impact on the gameplay.

Can anybody confirm if the game had a kind of endless mode anywhere,bit strange if it does not as that is the mode i was playing on the 3DS tour a few months back.

Are all missions timed and in small enclosed areas?

Yeah, you have a certain amount of time to get as high a score as possible without getting killed, though you can usually extend the time by smashing certain things. The enclosed area's are about the right size, though it would have been nice to be able to get to the tower in the village in RE4. You should give it a go, it's one of my fave 3DS games for sure.

Can anybody tell me how to advance past 4.4?

I have A ratings on 4.4 for 3 characters but nothing further has unlocked.

Does anyone know what the go is with the different weapon loadouts for each character? You can buy them with play coins but I'm wondering if they unlock ingame at all?

To answer my own question, apparently you need to get an S rating on every level with every character to unlock their weapons for other characters. 10 play coins might be easier...
