Just finished this.
Now that's how you do an ending set-piece. Empowering, intense, creative, and perfectly pitched so you get through it all in one try. No numerous restarts gradually taking the sheen off.
Absolutely my GOTY so far, and in terms of action games it's my Resi 4 of the current generation. I already want to go through it again, and it mixes things up and changes gears just beautifully.
Dunno if I'll try the multiplayer...how are people here finding it?

Okay, so I just Youtubed it. I remembered none of that! I guess I didn't play this series for the story thenLast edited by nem; 16-09-2011, 09:03.

hmmm
getting mixed signals with this now. Started off very good, but going downhill alittle. Bits are shamelessly ripped from half life 2 (the bridge, with rocket launcher/the ravensholm deserted town/ the priest etc and none of them, are done half as good.
I cant help thinking that a few puzzles would impove what now is turning into a very linear (but decent)experience.
Some amazing set pieces though - cant deny that
hopefully things will improve. I would have liked this to be a bit crisper/sharper graphically - I cant believe how muddy some levels look compared the first RFOMLast edited by dvdx2; 16-09-2011, 10:40.

I agree with you about the graphics, they arent very impressive at all.
Still a fantastic game though.

I thought the graphics lurched wildly between amazing and poo.
It's weird because there were times where it just looked really awful and then I'd find myself in the middle of a frantic firefight looking down the sights whilst moving quickly and it was a thing of rare beauty, up there with the very best. The final bit is well saucy, looks fantastic, whereas the caves look like ass.
A wonderful game, enjoyed every minute of it.Last edited by analog dog; 17-09-2011, 22:06.

Just played through this, fun game. Minor spoilers ahead.
I loved how varied all of the locations were. I just played through all of Half-Life 2 just a few months ago and I didn't feel like R3 copied stuff from it.
The level in the night after you jump from the VTOL and the last two chapters reminded me of Halo, if anything. The train level, that was bloody amazing. Up there with Uncharted 2. I'm glad you had the ammo crate there because I would have been pissed off if I ran out of rockets
Speaking of weapons, they were superb. The fully upgraded Rossmore is the best shotgun in any game ever.
One thing that bugged me was
the fight with the Widow Maker in the times square. What happened to all of the Chimera after it was taken down? They just vanished

Bit late to this, but I'm borrowing this from LoveFilm via a friend.2"
It's BRILLIANT. Combat is ace. Weapons are awesome. Loads of enemies.
I've never played the first two, other than the multiplayer R2 beta. Coming fresh to the series, it's been a blast. Now, coming to this from Gears 3, it really Gears up. R3 is packed with enemies. The boss battles are fair and not frustrating. It's fun. And all this despite a very oppressive atmosphere, and some quite disturbing elements. Basically, it does that whole "End of the world" thing much better than Gears 3. Possibly an unfair comparison, but worth making as I was surprised by the similarities.
I only have one slight issue with it, and it means I can't complete it. The last two times I've played it, I've had to quit due to motion sicknessI've up to level 18 but I don't think I can put myself through it again to complete it. I felt so bad having playing on Thursday night I was still feeling sick on Friday
I put that down to a narrow FOV that unfortunately gets even narrower when you run
Apart from not being able to finish the game, I still think it's brilliant. Refreshing to have that many enemies around at once, all dropping after a few shots, making you feel like a bad arse. Oh, and none of the regenerating health wimp nonsense. And you can carry all the weapons at once. Old school
