The combat in UC1 is alot better than in UC3.

The main difference is that the combat in UC1 is actually designed with some thought where as for part 3 it was just thrown together without any.

Obviously the second game has the best combat though, by a mile.

      UC1, scenario 1:

"Oh look, an enemy, i'll lob a grenade at him"

Enemy doesn't die, despite grenade landing at his feet.

"Hmm, that didn't work, i'll shoot him"

8 bullets in to his chest, still not dead.

"****, why will this f***er not die????"

Run away while still shooting wildly, bullet grazes the knuckle of invincible enemy, enemy drops like a sack of spuds.

      Scenario 2:

"i'm about ten feet from this guy, but there's a few other bods about i'm going to take down, so i'll line up a nice headshot while he stands with his back to me before wailing on the others"

Steadies aim..............perfect shot to head at short distance............enemy turns round and shoots me dead.

That's not to say I don't like the game, I do, but the things above DEFINITELY happen. I only replayed it about a week ago so it's fresh in my mind. I think there's a lot of rose tinted glasses where it's concerned.

Yeah all that happens in UC1 (kind of)?

But even your over exaggerated description above is still a lot better than the mess that is the combat in the third game.

Yep, all that happens. They're like Terminators in UC1. That frustrated me. More than that, it bored me at times because of the length of time the battles took. And yet I still find myself much more frustrated by the combat in UC3.

            Edit: (To Rmoxon)

No, it's not. But that's only my opinion. And what i've written above isn't me fluffing it up for effect, it happens. Maybe you need to go and replay the game again.

Ive played through it plenty of times thanks.

Im a massive fan of the first two games and I know them inside out, its why I was so disapointed with the nature of the third game in how it felt so thrown together without thought.

Well, if you know them inside out you'll know that what I just said about uncharted one is true, and not something i've invented as you're suggesting.

Never suggested you had invented anything.

This review sums up the game for me,
BANGclickRELOAD.com - a blog about games and stuff, mostly written by Paul Blackburn and Matt Clarke.

The swarms and swarms of enemies really destroys any feeling of realism and enjoyment in this game for me.

I still find it bizarre that people are so aggrevated by UC3's enemies. Arguements about being taken from behind aside (oo-er) there are genuinely less combat situations than in the two previous games and UC3 is quite heavily easier than those entries too.

Really? Do you want to have another read of this post then?

I don't expect anything less of your replies though.

How funny it is too look back on the thread I still don't see the problems with aiming and I clocked it on crushing? Is it really such a big deal and worth arguing over

Not really, especially now the selectable aiming patch is live

How is saying you exaggerated accusing you of inventing things?

If YOU read what I said I actually pretty much agreed with you that what you were saying happens, all I said was that Uncharted 3 has a lot worse combat. Becuase it does, the combats in the third game is bloody awful.

And it's not the aiming, it's just poor level design.

I think Nakamura's comment was down to a running joke there is on this site about me not thinking Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is as bad as everyone else thinks it is actually.

Incidently though I gave this a 7, I enjoyed quite a lot of the game. But the combat is awful and the game is disappointing compared to the other two.
