I will tell you what is really stupid though, that you can no longer knife people from the front. it just bounces off like its made of rubber. I know no one was a fan of MW2 and the teleporting speed running knifers but I do take offence to getting the drop on a camper who hasn't seen me coming... running up to them and them deflecting knife blows.

What better way to grief them, but now you can't because only a knife works in the back... WTF!

I am pretty sure the de-fib kit is also nurfed (and possibly repair tool but its changed) I am not really enjoying that or in fact that you can't 2.0 the buildings. Why add the feature then take it away? I do realise its not BF:BC3 but still some of the stuff that really set a precedence and its gone.

There still are buildings that do collapse, just not many of them

Tell you what has bothered me, jets.
This is the scenario you haven't flown them much but yknow you can fly and shoot. Take off, fly up turn around and lock on, oh man where's my flares???? Arghhhhhhhh
        Dead.
Your flares don't unlock til you have recorded 300 points in a jet, ####Ing ridiculous.
End of game how many points did I get in jets...
        0.
        Sigh.

            Help required!

As mentioned last night I started playing as Engineer. Didn't play for too long but managed to unlock a scope for the main gun. Great. Then start playing tonight as an Engineer and the scope was gone, come to think of it the weapon was totally different too.

Joined and quit a few games because of it. Started a Rush match and the gun from yesterday was back with the scope. Whats going on here, is this playing as different sides or something?? I'm confused.

Different guns, and thus unlocks, for each side. I asked the same question earlier. Rather frustrating, imo.

If you don't play on a ranked server does that mean all weapons are unlocked? I made the mistake of not selecting a ranked server and I found myself using all sorts of weapons in my first game which kind of spoiled the fun of unlocking.

I'm also finding a fair few players are being able to take me out with unscoped rifles from distance, which is hella annoying. I think they must have high resolution monitors so can see immense detail...

PS3: Actually managed to get a good few hours on last night with my BF-Fan mate without any serious lag to open this up. There's some good sections within the maps but none that I would say were overall great in design. The helicopters and jets are still mostly useless thanks to DICEs obsession with making them awkward for awkwards sake too. For my mate this has proven to be the BF that turns him towards COD as it's failed to gel at all with him.

For me, I'd sum it up as a single player that's passable but also often borderline plain bad and boring. The visuals in the sp are much better than in multi however it's almost all smoke and mirrors. Fixed lighting (which glitches when you deviate from the preassigned route) and 2d preprogrammed lens flare hide a lot of visual pop up and glitches. Multiplayer is a solid effort for fans though lacks any real character and feels somewhat bland. Some of the maps are structured well whilst others are too open to spawn camping etc. It's alright but personally the definition of average with it continuing my downwards slide the series has felt like it's been on since BC1 and 1943 came out.

I can't work this out, how do you visually know what side you are playing / what side you are going to be playing before starting. How many sides are there, 2?

Don't ask me mate, I can't tell if I'm Attacking or Defending on Rush until the game starts. And even then I can get confused

Unlocked the M something gun for Engineer last night. M4? M1? Whatever it is. Great gun, burst mode.

When you start unlocking weapons they, and their additional unlocks, are available for all sides.

Hopefully getting the PC version today....only the forth copy I've bought so far

                          +1

                          Overrated.

Lacking character and bland are two things which sum the whole game up perfectly for me. Again i tried but i just dont get the whole slow, dull, and frankly barren game a lot of the time. But i guess the barren bit comes from having some huge maps obviously designed around 64 man(pc) servers......and with only 24 it feels an utter slog.

Just to say that last night really clicked and thanks to everyone who played. These games are sooooo cool when you have a good gang of people to play with.

In order to get all the players on the same server, it seems the best way is to find a server in Europe with 0 players (I could see 20+) and then invite the party to that server. Then it fills within minutes, and everyone is on the same side. Simple and easy.

Sorry for the occasional Helicopter crash last night too, but we had a few good runs, and it is a bit special to see the enemy plane fly past, our mini guns opening up and then Evil Boris doing a perfect barrel roll chasing after then! At that stage I couldn't care about points, winning or polygon counts. I was just having a really great time!

On the rush maps where it was more closed it, again having two squads makes a frustrating one sided disjointed game become a balanced, challanging a fair game: Their tacticts versus ours. You always want to win, but if games go down to the wire you come away feeling: Good game! Beat you next time.

Anyway, my impression of the 360 game has greatly improved after that session.

Couldn't put it better myself. There was some proper epic moments last night, esp. watching Boris really stick it to that guy on Caspian Border in the plane. He didn't take kindly to us chipping away at him in the helo, which left him vulnerable and BOOM! Switching from the gunner seat to do swift running repairs was a classic example of men not being able to multi-task

The guys who rolled that APC down the hill right on top of us on that other map while we were defending was hilarious, quality tactic! Pity for them we won out, but you applaud their endeavour, that's when Battlefield truly comes into its own.

I must've deafened a few of you roaring with laughter as I blew the crap out of a squad that had dug in at B as I rolled up in a tank. The kill + point count rolling up the screen like crazy, was a beautiful moment.

When the roles reversed and we were defending, who knew that one of these

Could be so handy? Firing RPG's from one is a surreal moment for sure.

I noticed this too. It's effing bizarre and confusing. Particularly so as when you go to the 'my soldier' thing and adjust loadout, it only allows you to see what you've done with the US (I think?) set of equipment. Also noticed that I got attachment unlocks for a gun that I haven't unlocked yet...a clearer unlock 'tree' would have been nice.

Also, can't quite work out what the jets are for. Are they capable of attacking ground targets, or are they just something for people to lark about in in the sky looking dramatic but being useless? The latter, in my experience.

Flashlights are also quite ridiculous. Would a torch dazzle you in bright Arabic daylight? Probably I feel more ashamed on behalf of the people who use them than I feel annoyed when they dazzle and kill me.
