You do encounter some right idiots who either have no idea how to play the gametypes, or are simply solo-ing it for a high K/D ratio.
Had some quality games last night. My favourite bit was defending.... I don't know the map, I'm still learning. But we were at [what I assume to be] the last mcom. It's a warehouse on a waterfront. Previously, the attackers had stormed inside in a APC and done some real damage, but we managed to disarm. So I dropped a few mines where it had came in, and a few minutes later in it trundled again, evidently packed to the hilt. Got something like 6 kills from itAwesome.

Noshahr Canals.
Or as I keep calling it... Nosehair canal.
I like Caspian Border & Kharg Island in Rush but I'm just finding in Conquest with the 24 player count it is lacking. You've got 2x Jets, 1x Helicopter and Tanks per team which basically leaves 6 infantry per team to cover the four conquest points on those maps. It just shows up console player limit as precisely that, a limitation.
I'd actually be wanting DICE to seriously look at ways they could limit the Frostbite engine destruction and graphical effects just to cram in another 8 people a side on those maps. Lets face it the current consoles only have 512mb RAM which is a factor but other games have managed that player count (Frontlines had 50 etc...) so there must be some medium zone? They could even just throw it into it's own game-type like the 64 player on PC.
Just my rant anyway. On all other modes the consoles do a fine job as a whole because the team isnt so spread out. I actually played some Squad Deathmatch last night which is actually really good. Where normal TDM falls over right now is the maps have been shrunk down a bit too much and the spawn points are on top of each other. In Squad DM though you get less players (8 v 8) but the maps are bigger and they've added transport vehicles. It just seems to play a better version of deathmatch rules without losing some real BF elements.
The crazy thing is... no-one seems to be playing that mode and the servers (at least in Australia) were practically empty.

I dislike the maps like Grand Bazarre, Seine Crossing & Op. Metro because I think they're too hectic, so I think they're just fine as they are for console, however they should have upped the limit to 32 players for Caspian Border, Op. Firestorm & Kharg Island.
How many players did BC2 have anyway? I don't remember...

Pet hate regarding Quick Matches - not just this game, but all online games. Before playing tonight I had put exactly 6 hours into the game. So say an hour and a bit a night. So why then do games shove me in with players who seem to have no life and play all the time? Had some guy, level 39. He was playing fair, no tank spamming or anything, just clearly a guy who has far too much time on his hands and already knows the game back to front. What would it take to get to 39 after 5 days of release? 10 hours a day? I've no idea.
Matchmaking really needs to take these factors into consideration. I want to play against people with jobs and families who only get an hour or two a night to play

BFBC2 had 24 as well but as there were only helicopters the airspace wasnt as crowded and most players were on the ground whether they were in vehicles or not.
You've hit on exactly my point though. I'm not on about them adding 32 players for all maps because the issue is really only on the major maps with 4 conquest points to capture. I'm on about them having specific servers with a map rotation of the big three only and all other maps would only allow 24 as normal.
Within that I would also love it if they restricted access based on location. So basically you couldnt play in an Asia region server unless you were physically located in that region. It would supplement the game with a higher player count if the latency to all players was minimal.
Anyway its just a thought (wishful thinking) but if it happened I would be something special. The other thing on my wish list is private servers. DICE say they have big plans for supporting the game, so let's make it happen!

In BF3 aside from new weapons the specialisations above rank 25 appear to only let you share that perk with your squad instead of just solo (sprint, explosives, cover, flak etc...)
Strange thing is I've come across some guys already who are double my rank (I've already seen a rank 50, I'm 13) and they're not necessarily better than me. Sure they've got more playing time under their belts but that doesnt equal skill, just experience. They seem to go down with the same amount of bullets!

Searching by rank could well make finding a game take a while, The halo games loosely do it, but even that which has far more games going on atbanybobe time can sometimes fail to find a match.
Plus what happens is then once a player has reached a high level and only gets matched against other high level players, they just start another gamer tag and ruin games for new players by running circles around them and totally crushing them
