I've got MW3 to review and having completed the campaign in 5 hours I've found it's made me go back to this very quickly. The MP in this is so much better to me. I just prefer the scale & authenticity (ie not necessarily realism) of it.

I have to say it, having played both this is the game I'll keep coming back to for more.

No way. I'm still playing this every day with my mates. Have owned it for nearly 3 weeks now and we've put in an average of 70 hours+ into it. The servers are noticeably emptier and the calibre of players is higher now. I imagine there were a lot of CoD players that came into this and were just a tad **** at it.

I'm not getting CoD this year. Have bought the last two iterations but my mates have discovered Battlefield and the scope teamwork is far superior. We tend to play in silence over Skype apart from raging over most deaths in CoD.

Can't wait for Back to Karkand either. It'll freshen things up nicely since we've played it so much in a short space of time.

MP is rather fabulous, if a little hard on new players. My gripe is the dreadful on screen clutter. I wish they would make all of the garish stuff fade away when not close to a conquest flag etc. In BF3 you have perhaps the best war sim, yet they ruin it a bit by having too much info. cluttering up the screen.

I really enjoyed 1942 and battlefield 2 on the pc but i just dont have the patience for this the round start tank/jeep/jet grab is still here with people tearing off in empty jeeps and tanks. the game really favours sitting right back and snipeing and the lenght of time it can take to find the fight really ups the frustration level, the other thing is on 360 i always have the feeling im playing a hampred game due to the restrictions on how many people a map can hold, i gave this game a few weeks but theres far to much stuff about for this to be my number one game hence why i chose to trade it against skyrim.

Empty jets? They're a one man vehicle.

I agree the larger maps are sparse due to the limited player count in console but then everything else you've complained about can be remedied by playing with friends in a squad. That is what BF3 is all about.

I'm still getting used to playing this game since it's my first BF game and after years of COD. I was running around Tehran Highway getting killed in the same space until I remembered that you can blow walls out. I used my grenade launcher to make a hole in a wall and take a different route instead of heading into crossfire. Love it.

Yeah, there was a massive hive of Russians holed up in the warehouse at the dockyard last night, so I blew the entire side of the building off and zapped them all from behind. Well, 3 of them and then the others finished me off, but it still felt pretty heroic.

Still enjoying this and spending many hours on PC and 360. 64 Player is actually too much for my taste, 32 is the sweet spot on large maps and 24 on console works very well on Rush or small conquest maps.

Really hope this be a "Stayer" on the boards, but of course being pretty hard core gamers here, I see that many would like to use their time on new games straight away, but it's a social game to play and really nice to catch up with fellow BDF players.

If I am online an playing BF3, then I hope peeps will MSG me to join their games and visaversa.

Picked this up on pc a couple of days ago. Didn't get on with the beta but I had some spare credit and I've been underwhelmed by MW3. Wow! Once it clicked its great. I'm crap at it but it has such an immense sense of scale and its very satisfying to play.

Getting this, super mario 3d land, skryim and mw3 at roughly the same time is proving time consuming!

I said empty jeeps and tanks I know jets are one man affairs, yes if I had a clan it would probably tighten up my game but battlefield 1942 played better than this does and dident feel empty the horse shoe map in 1942 was a work of genius, I feel a lot is missing from this but then that's just my opinion.

i am enjoying the single player much more than i did with Modern Warfare 3. it's much better paced, has better storytelling and satisfying combat, even though the AI isn't the most convincing.

what i don't get is the performance hype of the the new Frostbite 2 engine for consoles, which presents itself as a technical disappointment if i look close enough and past the high def-textures. bodies of fallen enemies disappear right before your eyes, lot's of clipping, poor lip syncing, lots of static lighting and some shadows aren't even in place (simply look out for your own character's shadow).

What online mode do people prefer, Rush or Conquest?

Since picking this up a few days ago, I've only done Rush, but I find a lot of games lost due to people playing it like TDM.

Being an old BF vet (mainly 1942, Nam, BF2), I thinking of concentrating on Conquest now.

Mainly conquest but rush plays on bigger areas in some maps. I've also grown a slight soft spot for squad DM but you really need a full team of 4 to get the most out of that.

The quality of player seems to have gone up quite a lot now. People throwing down ammo and meds at all choke points and generally acting as a team even withouth mics. Nice.
