for those that have put an insane amount of hours into both SR 2&3, how does 2 compare to 3?

2 is the better game imo.

I'm in two minds, Saints Row 3 has the better campaign missions (despite the lull in the middle), has improved gameplay both melee and gun based and benefits from more writing round the characters with more incidental dialogue. I'm still hearing new stuff from civilians and homies and the stations after 100 hours.

Some of the side activities are missing, Sceptic Avenger though funny at the time I can give or take, but the smaller activites; fuzz, taxi, racing and ambulance driver should have been in there.

For me, it's missing alot of the little things from Saints Row 2 that make the world feel more like a whole, for example there are no planes flying into or out of the city. And for a city based in a port there is surprising little water bound activity. Unless you provoke someone both airspace and the sea are empty, it sounds small but it does make a difference. Also, aside from your cribs, I've found a scant few buildings you can walk into off the street.

Again, seems small, but it really annoyed me that you'd take over Safeword, a huge Casino and a Nuclear Power Plant, all of which would then turn into boring, generic, "saint"anised versions of their former selves. I mean they all had exactly the same bland bloody interior, really lazy.

It does have Genki. I really want a Genki Plus DLC that turns that into a mini-game closer to The Club. If the Genki stages had a bit more depth to them and leaderboards I could plough hours into that alone. Likewise, Whored mode would be better if the scoring meant something, but your score doesn't reset upon failure just the survival time. Doesn't quite work for some reason, a proper scoring mechanic would make it more compelling.

The core game is better, the writing is better, but the world is definitely lacking something.

Yeah Genki, graphics and the controls for SR3 really do go in its favour. Just wish it had the same amount of additional things to do. I LOVE GENKI! Do wish it had a story mission for it.

yeah, it definately is triggered more easily in insurance fraud. You want to fly over a bridge or something for a nice long 100m

I dunno why but I love Whored Mode .
Its such a simple idea but its like they took other Horde Mode styles, then went completely mental & took ideas from games like Zombie games 7 even Dynasty Warriors franchise.

I have done everything apart from the collectables and the stat based challanges now I think. So much flying over the city looking for inflatable sex dolls, cash and drug piles while trying to hit the basejumps etc.

Seriously though, this is one of the most consistently varied AND hilarious games I've ever played. It's criminal it will sell a 10th that GTA will. We'll be lucky if we even get co-op in that.
