Why should you bother with this? I mean, it's a new high fantasy RPG released just at a time when most people have Skyrim fatigue and it's an entirely new IP.
Because it's incredible, that's why. A game hasn't got it's claws in this deep since those first steps in Azeroth, or that time I took a punt on a game called Borderlands.
Maybe you tried the demo, which gives a decent insight in to what the game is about, but still, it's nothing like how the game feels after you've tailored your character 10 hours in, got fluid with the combat and started exploring every zone for lorestones to boost stats.
I'm playing with my combat skills split equally between finesse and might, meaning I can wield a Greatsword as tall as my character, launch enemies into the air and then pound them with quickfire arrows from my long bow. It all feels very Devil May Cry. I can't praise the combat in this enough.
There's so much to see and do. Every quest leads you to more areas, more dungeons to plunder for lootz.
The game drips atmosphere and looks great. It's such a refreshing change to play a game that isn't afraid of primary colours. The lore - whilst generic - is perfectly palatable and the main plot - as much as I have played with all the distractions - seems well written and gripping.
I absolutely adore it for what it's worth anyway. It's the kind of game that leaves you planning what to when you get back to it. It's obvious from everything from combat to inventory management that these guys have really paid attention to genre critisisms and tweaked them to near perfection. It's honestly close to gaming perfection to me, I can't praise it highly enough.
Having a character who looks like Geralt from The Witcher and a 6 foot sword dripping in gore (including an eye that looks toward enemies) can't help but add fuel to the fire.
Ok, I've done my bit, now play it!!
