Old voices for SH2 only, the frame rate and effects are crap on the 360 aswell, just not as bad in some places

Still hoping for a a patch!

I do hope they fix this. I was looking forward to finally playing Silent Hill 2 (after a couple of abandoned attempts, I think I found it a bit too grim 10 years ago ) ... gutted to hear how bad it is.

Silent Hill 2 is a fantastic port next to 3!

As I said earlier, of you've never experienced either of then, try are both some of the finest examples of gaming horror you will play, just be aware of the issues going in.

Also i'm sure i read somewhere that you can select the old voices for both games, is this right?

          Cheers!
I've played up to just past the pier in silent hill 2 on 360......no framerate issues at all for me.

Just the fog thats weak and the washed out look. No sound problems yet either.

Havent tried 3 yet, but i imagine it will be an improvement on the dreadful ps3 version.

SH2 has far better performance indoors, and that's where you spend most of the game. If you can deal with the missing effects, sounds, remixed audio, grain filter and frame rate skips outside, you'll enjoy it.

Silent hill 3 is an abortion though, and although the 360 is apparently better, it still has serious frame rate issues indoors and out, and it's own set of problems for the 360 alone- achievements unlocked freeze the game and force you to skip cutscenes to progress, and I've heard it locks the console a fair bit.

There's a digital foundry face off up in the next few days if you want to wait

Given these issues, isn't this one case where people really would be better off tracking down the originals? Although did SH3 come out on XBox? Maybe not. But SH2 came out on both PS2 and XBox.

Sh2 PAL doesn't work on 360, and SH2 can look like ass on anything other than a CRT

Might give it a go based on that. Cheers for the advice

Judging by all yr posts you love the game, so sad they could not just simply port it and add some sheen to the graphics. How hard can it be!?!? Feel sorry for Silent Hill fans like yourself that get this pathetic HD collection. 1. why take stuff out!! 2. why re record the voices, what is the point. The original Producers and Directors of SH2 and 3 must be so angy at how bad it makes a 10 year old great game look. I`ll stick with my Japanese Silent Hill 2 on PS2, if they`d have done a normal job or better like Metal Gear Solid, i'd be interested in this.

Silent Hill's/Team Silents Masahiro Ito (art producer across 3 games) was asked on Twitter (His twitter account https://twitter.com/#!/adsk4 NSFW) to compare versions between two pictures, he commented on them.

"Left side is HD, isn't it? It's poor," he wrote. "It's really a released version? Really?"

guy replied saying yes, Ito replied "OMG!"

                      Rest is here

He goes onto possibly blaming PS3 hardware for having a weak spot with 'translucent texture' and SH2/SH3 are full of them on PS2 versions.

                        OMG at SH3.

Wait until you get into the open, running about it Silent Hill. You aren't there for longer than a few minutes, but literally every step is like running through treacle. Sub 10fps at times.

Strange thing with the cutscenes too, they've changed some of the lines of dialogue in cutscenes for no apparent reason, but left the old subtitles in so they mismatch... Only some of the cutscenes dialogue is lip-synced too!!

Weirdly, I was just thinking the frame rate had improved, it seemed the further into SH3 I got, the better it improved... The construction site had very minimal frame drops... Then comes the outside area... An abortion. Let's see how the hospital fares...

More on the dialogue changes as well- what was the point?

They've changed a word "despoiled" to "unspoiled" - why??

During a key moment in the game, they've changed a subtle "...you won't get away with this" said in complete shock to "I'll kill you for this bitch!!"...why??? Not only a pointless dialogue change, but also completely against her characters personality at that point.

It screams of a noob developer trying to "make their mark" on a classic work. Shocking frankly, as is Konami's continuing silence in the face of these issues.

This makes me glad i still have the PS2 versions. Can't beleive they have treated this release so poorly.

This whole debacle makes me wonder: how much should I pay for a complete (and in good nick) copy of the Silent Hill Collection for PS2? I have the PC port of SH2 but even that's missing some effects.

The price has risen recently because of this poor collection.

Give it a little while and it'll be around ?20 again I'm sure!
