I played the hell out of diablo 2 as a teenager, and loved it. However for the most part I'm not sure as a 'modern gamer' if the diablo format really works, at least for me. The randomness of it seems like a step backwards, i guess from MMO's and other large rpgs ive always had a sense of a goal, and one that i can plan and set myself outside the game - this is gathered here, I can obtain this from killing this boss, and it becomes a sort of self defined adventure. I guess i just enjoy that much more than pure random drops.

Of course this puts a big emphasis on the Auction House system, which for the most part isnt to bad i guess....if you set a buy out limit and keep to a good budget you can usually pickup some great bargins....well...more like "reasonably priced item" rather than bargins.
But sometimes i look at an item, or a level 20 legendary, theres often 30 pages of the same item, ranging from 10k to 50million - and i just have to stop and think "what utter arogant twat put theirs up for 50million...i mean...seriously".
No doubt the real money auction house will probably suffer same fools, also if anyone spends 250? on an item in diablo 3 then there is no hope for human kind (its already happened on the us servers apparently)

Blizz should donate that 5% or whatever cut they get from each sale to charity...that would be awesome.... Jesus christ im just getting attacked by flying pigs and pink elephants, and they are being controlled by mutant aliens from mars!

dont see the point to a auction house to be honest.....for loot games the addiction for me comes from finding the stuff if it does not have that then i wouldnt really play

I was all for the RMAH, but now I think I'm against it.

However I will use it. I'll sell unwanted drops for real cash, and use that fund to buy the stuff I need. Maybe. Then, once I'm maxed out, I'll try to use the system to generate funds for other digital purchases, both inside and outside of Battle.net

One thing I forgot to mention, with all the modern day hotfixes and options available to massive developers like blizzard, farming spots and treasure runs seem to be getting patched and 'fixed' every week.. If this game has a long of a life as diablo 2, I kind of wonder that in 5 years if there will be no way to get loot at all, it'll be 'patched'

Blizzard have been patching exploitable spots in the game to do with farming, but more specifically to do with quick XP gain.

They have always stated with Diablo III that they wanted people to play through the acts instead of just teleporting to bosses and repeating, these patches are only there to keep the playthrough balanced across all acts.

It's also why you get the Nephalihm Valour buff at lvl 60 so you don't just go for boss runs, but play through the act to get a few champions on the way

I think that the level cap is there so they can release expansions which raise the item and character cap and render all previous tiers of equipment useless. In this way they can keep us fixated on better equipment and gold can suffer inflation.

I expect that farming will destroy the current economy and "buying the latest expansion" will be considered the cure

Another tip for anyone trying to reach level cap, the AH search has a bug so doesn't include items with "reduce level requirement".

Eg at level 52 you can use level 60 gear with "8 lower level requirement" but it will only appear if you search for lvl 60 gear with lower level requirement 8 - it wont appear if you search for level 52 gear

For example level 52 AH weapon typically has 300 dps but level 60 (-8) weapon typically has 700 dps

I'm getting bored of this now. Absolutely no rewards for playing.

As suspected, the AH kills the game.

The torchlight devs (lead designer of Diablo1 and 2) must be full of beans right now, they could easily trump Diablo 3.

                          bastards.

Thought I'd made ?42 on RMAH, only to be told I can't take the money out of my battle net account. You have to set up paypal using the battle net website and then choose that as the target for each auction or the money will get permanently stuck in your battle net account.

That's rubbish. So much for making things clear.

After discovering League of Legends this weekend, D3 will probably never get touched again.

Get yourself involved with Dota 2 instead, FAR superior to League of Legends!
