Been playing offline and welcome the challenges. Learning to be a lot more tactful now. I was worried with how easy act 1 was as I was falling ssleep at times due the simple hold attack gameplay. Yes it ramps up, but Icm enjoying it more because of it. Maybe try and work out an alternative skill setup?

I don't think the skills setup would help me (Wizard). Its literally the 15 or so enemies all charging me at once (start of Act II) that I cannot deal with. Its just attack > run > get hit > heal > attack > run > die > repeat

Maybe a different companion? The warrior with aggro type skill to attract most of the enemies? Heal him (not sure if u can), then offensive moves?

I'll give it a shot, maybe another night though. For now I have the hump with it!

How would I change companions at the start of Act II though?

Haha, interesting. Nah, I,m sure you can do it at Hidden Camp?

I've not experienced those issues, englishbob, I'm glad to say. My AI colleagues draw fire all the time, as do my various conjured 'familiars' (witchdoctor). Also, I don't see how they can get in your way as you can walk right through all AIs and indeed through online partners. Also, are you adjusting/maximizing the loadout and skills of your AI companions or just leaving them set up as you found them?

This means that every projectile, be it an arrow or a fireball, is homed in directly to you and to you only.
The first sentence gives it away, but I'll ask anyway.
I presume you know how to 'kite' mobs?
That's pretty much the whole game if you can know when to stay and when to flee and re-zone.

To be fair, you have chosen Wizard, which I felt is not quite geared towards mobs (to begin with) until you get some AOE spells later which breaks the game and just locks them down more or less indefinitely.

If you want to faceroll early, just pick a Barbarian, as you have a decent HP and damage output. Also a lot of his high end Inferno builds doesn't require lvl. 50 + skills. They mainly consist of Whirlwind/ crit damage = fury replenish and HP replenish.

Well, my next sentence will be more relevant to gaming as a whole this days. I have absolutely no idea what any of that means, as the game I bought the manual was empty and I haven't bought the "official" game guide!

An old Diablo/ baldurs gate standby.
Just basically luring mobs away when the heat is on, around the map (like dragging a kite) then attack. Then run around again.

Finally picked this up and it's definitely my kind of game. Only oth Blizzard game I've played was WOW, and while I loved that it was too much of a commitment. This feels/sounds like you can solo as much or as little as you want, which is perfect for a guy like me who just wants to dip in and out as and when. Straigt away I love the whole atmosphere and mechanics of the game ... looking forward to the challenges ahead

Kiting wouldn't be in the manual even if it existed. It's a standard technique given these types of games, as there are no real block/dodge abilities. You basically have to run circles around stuff until it dies. Higher difficulties result in running circles around stuff for longer periods of time, however Blizzard gave some mobs the ability to prevent you from kiting which completely made stuff 100% legitimately impossible with some classes.

There really isn't much more strategy than that, and the last thing they'd do is admit that in a manual.

If you think this is hard you should have played Act II on Inferno difficulty way back at PC launch.

Really mixed feelings on this. Thought it was ok based on the demo. Was having relative fun on hard mode smooshing my way through, though with zero skill involved in the combat and an instant re spawn I'm not sure where the challenge is supposed to be. Then I got to the end boss of the demo, 1, 2, 3 hits and dead, no dodging, no rolling away from the massive area attack, plus do the section again with no re spawn, awesome.

Demo instantly went off and has on reflection put me off buying the game altogether. Unless I missed something on the boss?

                              Inferno Act II.

Those ****s that spit out darts at you? One hit and you explode. It was like playing a bullet hell with a massive hit-box, and no way to destroy the enemies.

I tried playing this demo on hard and found enemies took far too long to kill which made it too much of a grind. The medium setting apart from the boss and a couple of other sections of the demo if your not careful is rather easy but more enjoyable. The boss is certainly not too hard on medium although still a challenge. I'm not sure exactly how successful dodges work and If there may be a special timing involved. I sometimes get the word dodge show up in the corner of the screen when I've rolled past an attack and it can be used to cancel attack motions.

The respawn at corpse thing I don't like at all and it's an option you never had In the PC demo. I agree it makes dying meaningless which takes away from the challenge. Apparently after level 10 though if you choose to respawn at your corpse all your equipment takes a durability hit and you don't have the option against act bosses. In Diablo 2 if you died all your equipment would fall on the floor right in front of the dangerous thing or mob that killed you and you'd respawn in town and have to try and get it back almost naked. That made you fear dying the way you should.

Comparing the PC demo with the console one the console version is a more limited demo. Only 2 of the characters selectable and a level cap of 9. Graphically there close, the PC version looks a bit sharper and clearer and runs a bit smoother but not a major difference. For some reason I found especially when playing as the barbarian that I was hitting with more impact. I felt a greater sense of power and weight to his moves compared to console. I don't know if that's to do with the graphics/effects or it's the superior speakers on my PC delivering more booming bass when I crunch into something.

What's to happen with the upcoming expansion on PC? Will that also appear on current gen or only on PS4?
