Do you mean being able to choose how to build your character? This is the thing I most dislike about Diablo 3 however I haven't played it that much yet. How does it work further in? Is there such a thing as character builds? It seems as though you aren't forced into making any irreversible choices.

With diablo 2 when you level up you would get access to certain skills and then you could allocate points to the skills you like making them better, but in diablo 3 you level up and unlock new skills ....but they remain the same so you cannot put points in to improve them. And i do find some of the skills really useless for the way i play and it would be nice for more flexibility to make them useful.

Though i have come across a couple of items that would combine two abilities into one.

There are character builds like my witch doctor is pretty much a summoning type, and with the items i have equipped and the passive skills there can be a lot appearing on screen just i wished with the paragon levelling system that i could put those points into abilities or perhaps combine them.

That is exactly my biggest problem with Diablo 3. I was hoping there would be a lot of things you can do with your character later on apart from just adding skill modifiers. I also don't like the fact that normal attacks have pretty much been taken out which I think also limits the freedom with which you can build your character.

Yeah it does feel limiting also i think the levels and places are a bit underwhelming with only one boss that i think even approaches being ambitious. And while blizzard do great cut scenes i wish the stories and quests were more epic.

If you want a more old school type of Action rpg would say on PC check out Grim dawn and Torchlight 2

The story, voice acting, music and that foreboding atmosphere is what initially drew me into Diablo. Diablo 2 also handled those aspects really well (though less oppressive and scary) and I still think it has some of the best cutscenes in a game. From what I've played of Diablo 3 though it's really underwhelming. I have little interest in hearing what's going on and the music and stages feel quite bland so far.

I have Torchlight 2 and Grim Dawn though haven't played much of them yet. I think Grim Dawn isn't complete yet. I have played through Path of Exile a couple of times once when it was in beta and once with another class when they added the 3rd act. Going to try that again at some point now there's a 4th act.

Grim dawn is due for full release next month....but in early access it is pretty much content complete they are just spending a couple of months polishing and bug fixing
