Ugh, I've got a bug at the minute (at least I think it is). It won't let me create a new save file, even though it says empty save slot, I save, and nothing's there.

I've tried deleting old saves and making new ones, doesn't work. Only thing that does work is saving over old files, but that's a pain in the arse because it keeps it in the order that they were initially saved. I haven't been online with it yet so hopefully when I sign in there's a patch or something that rectifies this, because if not that's a pretty bad bug in a game like this.

Edit: Nope no patch when I signed in :/

This game is worse that crack. Other than a few bugs and slightly dodgy camera, Enemy Unknown is awesome

The worst bug I've had so far is that the camera would force-move to one way, with the camera control buttons only able to make it stay where it was; luckily saving/reloading the game solved the problem.

I finished it last night, on classic difficulty. Started a new game this morning on 'impossible', and they're not kidding, I can't even complete the first mission!

Bad early research choices early on in my game mean I'm really struggling now - everywhere is panicking because I haven't deployed enough satellites coverage - base management really is key in this game. I really should restart, but I'm pretty far in.

Good base management seems to be the key to success in XCOM.

I've done exactly the same, lack of Satellites is killing me. I don't even have enough engineers to complete one of the primary objectives.

Engineers can be recruited via Workshops, but if you lack satellites you should invest in them and their uplinks. For quick money you can sell things in the grey market, but most items require to be sold in large quantities to be truly profitable.

I found I didn't have that much satellite coverage until quite late on in the game, there was always something more pressing to spend the cash on.

This is a fantastic game. Really feels like the old X-COM. Been playing it none stop and have completed it.

Strange though, now I have completed and seem to have no will to do it again...which of course I did with the older games. I played them over and over again.

I don't know. It just doesn't have that kind of sandbox 'feel' to it any more.

Speaking out of my ass I know. But whatever.

Could be the pacing of the way you encounter the aliens on the maps, it gets kinda repetitive after a while. Plus once you get your squad up to a high level and start relying on some of those overpowered abilities (like Double Tap) I actually found it less fun than the struggle in the first half of the game.

Just spent the whole of the weekend playing this brillant game, totally hooked on this. Satellites building is a pain in the arse however taking 20 days at the moment, such a good tactical game. So far I've only lost three of my men, but you really do feel the tension in each mission as you try to locate the enemies.

Just started this last night (finally!), and it's just like being back playing the 90s PC game again, loving it

Need more satellites though, waiting too long for them to build. And I need to find the money to buy the sixth squad slot. Always something else you need your money for...

Yeah, make sure you put a lot of your money and time into satellites, they are the most important part of the game, it's the difference between a fun ride and a frustrating one.

I've got two uplinks running now, and have a third satellite made to put in orbit, with another two on the production line. I bought the sixth squad slot, but I think I really need to go buy that perk to reduce recovery time...

Must be 20+ hours into this now and I'm proper fed up: woeful lack of variety (whether topographic or stylistic) in combat environments; glitches like enemy AI getting stuck on scenery then being able to shoot through it while being themselves unassailable because stuck inside level furniture; the fact mind control always hits target but other enemy weapons don't; the base management bit, which looks super cool but is awful arse-ache to manage (proper tech-trees would have been much better); the unreal engine, which makes everything look worse and so should be taken round back and shot. For all that, though, I'm still enjoying it a bit.
