Medal Of Honor Warfighter BETA review

Well, I've had a few plays. Looks nice. Looks, well, like BF3 really. Nice Map on the BETA. Plenty of ways to hit it. BF3's hurdle is in there which is great. Loads of Countries Spec Forces to choose from, with varying positives & negs depending on who you choose.

BUT..............yet again they have f*cked us Southpaws over. In MOH it was lack of Lefty controls on the Single Player. In this game the Southpaw is there on the MP but they've swapped the triggers over, which has completely confused me.

Also as I experienced in BF3 there seems to be a slight delay between actioning something on the controller & it happening on the screen, which I cannot deal with.

So, all in all, altho it looks nice & the BETA map is a good un, I will NOT be buying this time as they've not repaired the problems I had with BF3 & due to the fact that they just seem to hate Southpaw players by making our games a stressful & worthless experience

Was really looking forward to this but I am dissapointed with the end result

the game looks much worse than i remember it from early gameplay videos. they must have been showing PC fooatage... sound on the other hand seems to be a strong point again.

gameplay-wise i am not sure what to think of it. the one single map i played was nice with lots of close quarter engagements but lag was noticeable and aiming was a pain in the ass. field of view seems very narrow too, mostly i couldn't spot opponents coming sideways.

by the way: why do American gamers need 4 factions to choose from and then some countries are not even represented?

Yeah i agree. Too many US based teams, as usual. Field of view is indeed very narrow & it did seem very laggy. Didn't mention this b4 as i was giving a quick opinion based on 1st impression, & only did that cos the server dropped out (good thing too cos i was starting to lose my cool with the feckin thing ) . Visually it seemed ok. Nice change from the COD style of visuals, & the map is nice n big compared to the tiny maps on the previous MOH. I just hoped that they would have finally sorted out the problems that had plagued us Lefties after MOH. Last time they gave us southpaw on the MP but left it out of SP. This time round they've swapped the trigger buttons round for some stupid reason, making everything all arse about face & confusing & frustrating. Why FA?, WHY?

Just having a quick go on the single player on my lunch break and the first 5 minutes really are bombastic!!

Sets the tone for the rest of the game I hope. I enjoyed the first MoH so looking forward to the rest of this.

Is the review on the front page for this or the old one? All the pics look very familiar?

Can't make my mind up with this one,the single player levels I have suffered two glitches which stopped me progressing and the number of times your colleague stays put and won't advance is annoying
Some of the levels seem to be bad at directions for your character or is it me??

It's not you BIG EDD, I've come across the same problem with bad directions. I'm enjoying single player so far, tried multiplayer last night and it was a leggy mess. Makes you wonder what the 58mb day one patch was for.

Picked this up and I feel like Ive only been on it 2 mins and Im halfway through the missions. Ended up with the 360 ver where installing the data makes a big difference. Its quite the looker but the gameplay makes CoD look sophisticated. I cwn't comment on the mp as Im not paying out for Gold again but whilst solid (if glitchy) enough there is no reason to stick with this over Battlefield 3.

So you've not played Multiplayer yet you say there is no reason to stick with it over BF3?

                      Eh

The game controls don't offer the accuracy and sense of control that would be needed to be worthwhile sticking with it over BF3. Given MOH is even more aimed towards the CoD market it misses the mark by quite a large margin. BF3s Close Quarters maps show that BF3's controls strain when required for fast, short distance, reactive gameplay. In this it'd be like the iron sights are smeared in butter, unless you let the incredibly generous auto aim do the job.

I'm enjoying this in a guilty pleasure kind of way but, and I ask this with a straight face, am I supposed to understand what's happening?

It seems a bit bounce around all over the place-y. Or does it all come together at the end?

as the release version is still in beta state i guess it's appropriate to post thoughts here...

2 hours in the campaign and i think it's safe to say this is no worthy successor to the last MOH campaign - which i loved. so far firefights feel lacklustre and why do i have to shoot every guy twice to drop him? the story bits and cutscenes are boring and the emphasis on the psychological and social aspect of being a warfighter just feel pathetic and out of place. technically the game is also very outdated - except the sound design, which is great. but the poor resolutions shows and there is no dynamic lighting, i can't even shoot the headlamps of cars. Frostbite 2 seriously?

I've just finished the single player campaign on this and I thought it was really quite good; if a little generic.

I like the different breach actions even if they only amount to the same thing and I never encountered any of the crazy bugs or glitches that reviews have mentioned.

A solid 7/10 and an enjoyable way to spend 6 hours.
