Just finished this on PC and can only echo what people have already said but i cant praise this game enough as i was hooked from start to finish and it even kept me awake at night thinking about what i had accomplished or when i ws in a tight spot thinking of themany ways and enviroments to use to get myself out of it,and made me not want to socialise too and i can honestly say the last game to make me feel this way was ICO way back on PS2.

From the characters to the story the twists n turns the graphics(special the lighthouse level wow) and the sound i simply couldnt get enough and im going to go through it again on hard and find the few runes i missed out on.

A truly brilliant brilliant game and easily GOTY for me witout a doubt.

    Well done Bethesda!!

Why what did Bethesda do?, apart from publish it, shouldn't you be thanking the devs. Reminds me of Activision back in the day, they was an absolute joke and lucked out on a few good franchises and now there the bees knees to the majority of the population, wonder why it publishers that get the praise for really taking a punt on somebody's ideas and work.

        Zenimax (Bethesda) OWN Arkane Studios.

The game wouldn't of been made of released if it wasn't for Bethesda, the whole game feels as if there has been no publisher suggestions made along the way. If that is truly the case then I would applaud them for it.
Do you think Dishonored would of scraped past EA or Activision without having more guns, more cutscenes and the obligatory multiplayer mode?

Hopefully Dishonored is the first in a few games that Zenimax uses it's Skyrim wealth to develop.

Fantastic game can't believe some people are saying it doesn't look good the whole game feels like it has a history to its locations that is very rarely found in a game. I love the whole whale oil foundation to the world, it gives it an industrial revolution style feel and gives the world a building block to grow from. When a dev goes that extra mile to put you into a fantastic alternate universe as chocked full as this it really is a treat.

I really can't believe how good this game is . It as the same memorising artstyle like that in Bioshock and the gameplay and totally world believable like that of half Life II.

This is just such a well made game to look at and play ...

Just started playing this and - as everyone said - the world design and detail are stunning. Genuine sense of weight and history. Very City 17-like (obviously), only much finer, with the layers of past interventions all showing, clash of metal and stone, improvized/ad hoc interventions against more monumental/pristine types architecture, dramatic top-down lighting chucked in all over the place. All the great Antonov trademarks, really amazing. Valve can't do HL3 because they're desperate to get this guy back, word on the street is (i.e. I just made it up). The only slightly jarring thing are all the American accents in what is clearly meant to be a 'European' setting, but the voice acting is good so it doesn't matter too much.

Better to default the objective pointer to off, would people reckon?

Me too after umming and ahhing yesterday for an hour of what to buy, after trading in Resident Evil 6 to HMV. They did not have NFS: MW and did not want to get into lengthy Mass Effect 3 (Never played the others) plus ACIII was still 42.99!! Thought I would give this a shot as by all accounts it is all kinds of brilliant. Don't normally like FPS style games, but like stealth and as I'm enjoying Portal 2 thought I would see how I find it. The powers look really interesting in the Trailers and Reviews I have seen/read and intrigue me. Will post some impressions sometime soon. Good to hear yr enjoying it Golgo, can't wait to get stuck into it myself and soak up the atmosphere and read more thoughts from here.

Loving the story and world, but my playthru isn't going too well. Bodies piling up everywhere. Utterly cackhanded, I am. Fortunately it doesn't seem to matter too much as the AI will often happily step right through a dead/unconscious colleague without getting alarmed.
                      :-/

The AI does, not for me it doesn't, if i put a foot wrong, there's guards everywhere and all sorts of chaotic nonsense going on.

Maybe my AIs are just a bit tired or something. Or maybe I'm just playing it like a blinking idiot. Hee hee.
                          A blinking idiot...?
                          Heh heh...

Done the first mission and had time to gauge stuff now. As others have said the atmosphere is magic and the world they have created. Got three powers so far. Possession is brilliant use's a lot of manner it seems though, can't wait to try it on different enemies. Blink is brilliant fun and great to get away from people. I found the first mission quite hard and kept getting seen so had to kill a lot, which is a shame. Tried not to when I could though which is a real achievement and very rewarding to sneak around heaps of guards. Love all the notes you pick up along the way, really add to the atmosphere and general feel. The story seems interesting and the sheer amount of ways you can tackle the levels is unreal even if it, goes more linear towards the end as people have said. Looking forward to more missions and exploring more powers along the way.

Minor moans: Why does The Outsider look like a boy-band reject? They could've made him more 'divine' looking. And why do mission 'clues' appear in the log as literal step-by-step instructions of what you need to do?

I started this the other day and I'm not sure it's for me. Did all of you guys who loved it love it from the outset? So far I'm

just about to leave the pub on a mission for the first time

, so not very far at all, but I'm already overwhelmed (not in a good way) by the amount of worthless text and dialogue that it's throwing at me. It does look gorgeous though, especially the UI & menus.
