Played some more today. Really can't make my mind up about his. On the one hand it's very good in places. On the other it's just another FPS.
Not particularly challenging (Heroic) but I am having fun with it. So far, as a single player game it's certainly not deserving of the 10s it's received but I realise there's more to it than just the campaign and that the review scores are judging based on a lot more than what I'm playing. Pretty good then but not as good as Resistance 3 (this gen's best console FPS IMO).

And the piece makes a good point, theres nothing there to make you play again, oh the story yada yada yada , crimson team, kill everything, its not better than firefight.

I think the story is pretty cool, it could just be the drip feed effect though. I'd imagine you could literally just watch the FMVs back to back and not miss out at all.

I'd probably knock my score down a little to be honest if I could. It evens out the score a little from Team Andromeda's 5 though.

Looks like he only played a single Mission of campaign an no multiplayer before he rated it 5.

I won't vote til I've finished the campaign but I think it's fine to vote after the first mission; if the first mission tells you this is a 5/10 game then so be it. Personally I think 5 is terribly harsh but we're all different.

Well, finished this last night, and despite a fair few cheap deaths along the way, i enjoyed every level of this, which is a first for any halo, so a big well done to 343 for that. Graphics were also consistently brilliant throughout, who would of though the 360 had this left in it eh?. Sound effects were pumped up to 9, not quite up there with CE for sound but still a massive improvement on the other entries, i did miss the constant chatter of the marines from CE, hopefully 343 can find a way to work them back in all the time again in the next entry.

There were a couple of overall niggles though. Weapons, now despite getting rid of the duel wealding (i believe this wasn't in reach, can't remember?) there was still to much choice, human, covenant (almost none of which i liked, wheres the plasma rifle gone!??) and promethean, it was a bit of an overload, so they could of culled a lot of these quite easily and i doubt people would notice.
Story, people have moaned about this and i can see why, however if you read cryptum & primordium (theres also a third comming out about the forerunners), things do make a lot more sense, and i think 343 made a lot more effort for universe continuum than bungie ever bothered to do, however they still could of put more in there for people who don't want to read the book, maybe footnotes from the books or summaries would of helped as an unlockable or just something extra for the title menue, a timeline maybe like halo wars did works well.


Not got to play the multiplayer as my rental copy is scratched to buggery and has given up the ghost, but i would of definitely of played it and stuck with it. So an 8 from me based just on the single player, its just a fantastic game, plain and simple.

Its both unfortunately. Disk 2 doesn't work at all and disk 1 only works when it wants to, in order to finish the single player i had to do it in 2 sittings as it just boots you back to menu upon selecting any mode, massive pain. Still, I've not got to give the 360 back to my pal for a good while, so may just trade some old toot in for it and give the mp a good hammering

Halo 4 War Games Pass, is 2000 M$ points and the packs are being released, The Crimson map pack will launch on December 10, the Majestic map pack on February 25, and the Castle map pack on April 1.

Ok level 6 was utterly fantastic. A real chance to choose how to tackle getting to your target. Brilliant. I broke the game by

Jet Packing to the Gravity Thing before the game really wanted me to. I got the message form Cortana that we'd done it but then the game still wanted me to go back and perform the now-pointless task of reactivating the gondola by wiping out a bunch of enemies and flicking a switch

but it was still fantastic.

Plasma pistol is your friend for Covenant. Charged shot and single headshot will take out any enemy.

Also bear in mind many bits can be easier by literally running past enemies to the next section.
