Persona 4 Golden - Vita review

12 hours in. I am totally hooked, but not in a normal game way, but in the same way that I get obessive complusive with a fantastic book.
I don't have constant TV/sofa game time these days, and need to squeeze gaming inbetween my busy schedule, and playing a JRPG on a console without the ability to do an "Instant Save" is too high risk. The Vita has become more like an e-reader and the game story has really caught my interest. I sneak in 20 minute sessions and it all adds up
Being a JRPG n00b I was also delighted with the very easy mode, believe me you can still mess up, but I actually feel like Persona4 is teaching me how to play an RPG. I found out that I can assign one player to be defensive (Healing and protecting) and then use others more aggressivly and this gives a good result. The way Persona explained it was great.
Final comment, but the game seems to have a really nice message of friendship, but sometimes I am not sure if I like the way it deals with sexuality, but this is perhaps a cultural difference.

30ish hours in now, and still loving it! The story makes me cringe/laugh at the same time. It's addictive stuff and I am equally enjoying the TV world and Real World. First JRPG I have put time into since Phantasy Star on the Master System. The portable format just works perfectly for me, so I wonder if Vita will be a well supported RPG platform, as it deserves to be!

I have beaten off the slump and got back on this, and am now really getting into it. Before I was fretting about not knowing the 'best' way to spend my time, whereas now I'm being a bit more decisive, and am finding it much more rewarding for it. I've been dabbling a lot more with fusion too, which seems to be the best way to get more powerful. When I get the chance to play at home, the 'Voice' commands are good at easing my mind about how I'm choosing to spend my time, too.
Currently just
at the point where Kanji's been rescued and now he's just recovered
, must be nearing about 20 hours in now? Anyway, I'm really loving it and can see me going the distance now. I'm putting off P4 Arena (and the Blu-Rays of the anime...) until that point too, seeing as I don't want it ruining the story for me.

Fuse your personas a lot - don't get too attached to any as it's quicker to level them through fusion. From what I understand, one of the additions to the 'Golden' edition is the ability to choose which abilities to carry on when you do, rather than just crossing your fingers you get good ones (or alternatively, saving and reloading until you do) - making the process quite foolproof.
Also, it's kinda obvious, but whenever you get free time, make sure you do something with it - whether it's studying, hanging out with people, or working a job. You'll quickly learn what takes up time and what doesn't, and which activities will bring you the kind of benefits you're currently looking for.

I've beaten off multiple slumps on this game to get back into it. Now at around 40 hours and just to reiterate, this is an absolutely superb game that expands on and improves on P3 in so many ways. I really love it, and I wish they'd release a Vita version of P3 (not just the PSP port).
It's massively time consuming though. I like to have at least 3 hours available for a proper session lol, or it's just a bit unsatisfying.

Quote fodder: what are the advantages of becoming intimate with someone? I'm sure I read somewhere that you can also pursue multiple people at once, but I presume there are repurcussions in doing this?
Currently into September, and loving this so so so hard. It's lining itself up nicely to be my game of the year.
