I am still after it but not a single SSS, I meant the SSS every stage. i'll try using the axe more though to see if it raises the average

Mission 1 SSS DMD play though. The flying bug is apparently fixed in the patch released today

dont know if that vid was for my benefit but like i said i already did SSS on DMD, it was easy. its on nephilim that i cant get it because the enemies die before i get into the flow

As I said, remove the upgrades that make your moves more powerful and it will be easy to sss rank.

I have tried it and although my style rank went up the time rank went down giving me an SS overall again. need to be able to take out the boss before he does his darkness move for a good time rank. i reckon i'll try leaving the upgrades off and then put them all back on at the last statue before the boss.

It's not too bad man, but I kept SS Mission 1 too. Use Aquila to draw them in and use punish the group with wide Rebellion attacks and end with Arbiter that'll rocket your style points easily.

Also punish the boss with Devil Trigger and that'll also gain massive style points with ease.

Still loving this, can't even be bothered to start Rising Revengeance yet...

No, it was more look at this vid of some guy doing crazy stuff!

On the SSS thing, I have managed to get SSS on Nephilim mission 1 with full upgrades, so it is possible. Although...The patch released yesterday has added the functionality that the S ranks will drop through ranks, so, the way it used to work was when you were at SSS you stayed at triple SSS regardless of whether you were attacking. Now it continues to drop to SS and then S unless you're hitting something, so it's basically harder to maintain SSS.

I don't know if they have changed SSS required scores based on this.

It seems things haven't really changed on the boards here. I would have expected a bit more current discussion on this game given that it's still pretty new (I only got the platinum last weekend and I've played nothing else since it was released) and the Vergil DLC just came out.

I had promised myself I would never again support the likes of Capcom and Namco with their nefarious DLC policies, but Devil May Cry is in my blood and I couldn't resist picking up both this game and the Vergil DLC.

I'm not one of the people that irrationally hated DMC4, but I do think this game has improved on it - it takes the grab and pull mechanics of the previous game but uses it in a better way, so combat flows much nicer and it's always great fun in a fight. Shame about the lack of styles... although I have to say Vergil does almost feel like he is using Trickster style with his dashing and teleporting.

Only two new enemy types in the DLC, one of which doesn't really offer anything different from the regular enemies. I'm a bit miffed Vergil doesn't get Bloody Palace either as he is a lot of fun to play with but can't be used outside the 6 missions of his epilogue story. We got the bloody palace option with DMC3:SE, so I feel it should have been here.

There's a lot yet to be learned even with Dante, I haven't even managed to pull off half the combos you get shown in silhouette form when it's loading. I'm looking forward to taking Vergil up to the highest difficulty first though.

Finished it last night on Nephilim and apart from Mundus being a cakewalk I enjoyed the game highly as a whole. Nice to see an English studio's take on the established franchise and if Vergil's Downfall is anything to go by, I hope they are in line for creating a sequel.

The game truly comes alive on Son of Sparda difficulty though. Taking on crowds with all your weapons and skills intact from the start, or alternatively racing through Bloody Palace mode and fighting waves of demons can't be beat.

                      Good job Ninja Theory.

Can anyone explain how exactly the Doppelganger works? I can see it has a red, blue and black mode that is selected with the d-pad, but what are the different behaviours? I'm always too busy to try and figure out what it's doing in a fight.

Also the second upgrade says you can adjust the delay, but no controls are given so how exactly do you do this?

                        Comment

Basically, if you switch it to red your doppelg?nger does moves like you were holding R Trigger an blue is like you're holding L Trigger. This allows you to do combinations with you doing one style and your doppelg?nger doing another

Ah... I get it - obvious now really.. but what about the delay adjustment? (the second of the two upgrades you can buy)

Vergil Must Die difficulty- Hollow Vergil... what's the best way to deal with his blistering swords? It seems like the intended method is just to parry the first one so the others vanish but I have not found any good indicator of the timing needed to do that. Best I can do is eat the first two and parry the third, but more often I take every hit and lose around 30% of my health bar.

Unlike Dante, Vergil doesn't seem to have a rapid deflection move for returning projectiles easily so it's tricky if you can't figure out the cues.

I was determined to beat it without using any items and in the end I did, but there has to be a better technique to surviving than I could manage (used about 15 continues I think).

edit - wow, masterful use of trick up/trick down in this vid.. doesn't show me anything clever for beating the blistering swords though (seems this guy learned the parry timing perfectly)

God this game is ace. Finished it last night, only to start it again straight away.

I quite like the way that you have to use the whole pad and all buttons to get the most out of it.
