    Full game impressions:

I have been playing for an hour now and I am usually a very forgiving gamer on such matters but DAMN, THE AI IN THIS GAME F'N SUCKS! I can stand next to some enemies who are crouched and they do not move. So I just saw them in half. Also had a few instances where enemies explode and bits just float in the air. Really ruins the game.

I'm not feeling this. I loved the original GoW multiplayer, it felt really pure and skillful and I invested literally hundreds of hours into it, then GoW2 came along and its MP was a step in the wrong direction but still fun, I didn't bother with GoW3 so I'm no GoW connoisseur, but this seems really diluted and much more like CoD than the earlier games. It also seems slow. Really slow. I think I'll stick with Team Fortress 2 - fast, simple, point and shoot gameplay that never seems to age.

I dont like the way you can only throw frags now ? not tag them onto things ?

and i dont like the 2 wepons only option , if it aint broke why change it :S

the overall quality feels like a cash in

I guess it's a marmite game then as I actually prefer the 2 weapon limit and grenade throwing. It keeps you on your toes moving through the levels and grenades as more tactical now as they can be used quicker.

I do miss the proximity grenades (you can tag them to walls in campaign) but as I've said earlier there is now a crossbow weapon the makes does proximity trip wires. It's not in any of the maps for multiplayer at the moment but I think it should be. I had a couple of matches where I swapped weapons out and put that in and it was great fun.

It just needs more maps & modes really. Of course some is coming for free including Execution but yeah it is a diluted or streamlined offering but for the most part I think it works.

I hated the proximity grenades. I'm glad they're out of gears now. It was a campers dream for multiplayer, now that can only happen at rare intervals.

The only mode I've felt your characters feel slow in (no idea if this is actually true or just my perception) is Overrun. I'm sure the Grenadier roadie run is wayyy slower than how fast you run in campaign/ how fast you run in Deathmatch etc.

Honestly, I'd think it was a cash in if it played exactly the same way as the other gears games with very minimal changes. They've changed more with this than epic ever has IMO and so far they're great changes. Having the grenade on LB is by far the best addition to me, plus grenades sticking in enemies <3. I've wanted that since seeing it in one of the early gears of war 2 multiplayer videos, but it never made it to the final game

Campaign is quite odd on this though, the single 10 minute ish chunks (so far). But I'm quite liking that too. A lot of the time if I want to play co-op with my friends we don't all get the time when we can sit down and play say an hour long level, but 10 minute ones are easily doable.

Yep the Grenadier is purposely slower moving in OverRun. In other modes its not like that so Id guess it was done for balancing classes?

What do we think of the cog missions? Strange one for me. They provide an option to make the game more difficult, which is nice, but mostly by making it less fun (weird screen filters such as wavy-gas-inhalation and no longshot fun).

Only played a bit of this so far, but the cog missions, along with the whole score thing, detect from the gears experience for me. They have made this game harder than a Gears 3, which sounds great, but its not harder in the right way. You still can't really die becuase the A.I can revive you. The difficulty now is in getting a good score, but really, what Gears fan cares about a score?

I miss the series' focused, almost Hardcore nature, this is just a casual game with bolted on score mechanics to make it seem harder than it is.

The games ok. I didn't have high expectations after the last game, which in my opinion was a well balanced affair in all.
The only major gripe I have with Judgement is the AI. Why the heck do they always run across your line of fire, or at worst just stand in front of you?
Is classic horde mode going to be a later download?

I'm enjoying this still, just getting into the home stretches of the main campaign but I'd agree that the score system that breaks up the stages is a little intrusive to the experience if you have no interest in it. It looks that little bit tidier than GOW3 but despite the engine being well used I'm not uber impressed, part will be the age of this gen but the other side is with the engine wow's out of the way it highlights how crap I think the art direction is at times. Sometimes there's a stunning section but all too often it's dowdy. As much as the action has been sped up I'm finding Gears poor voice acting, chunky character design and bad story/writing to be harder to swallow. The game has made changes but just not ones I wanted, unless Gears takes a big leap forward next gen (risking losing some hardened fans) I don't know how much fuel is left in the tank of this series... fun, but outdated fun.

Played through it all today in one playthrough. Feel much the same as others here. AI is terrible, it can be boring as its more of the same. It does pickup towards the end otherwise I could have seen myself not going back to it if I would have put it down.

For me the aftermath mission feels really out of place. It looks rushed and just is overall abit crap. Was this not gears 3 DLC? It feels like it should be and was tagged on the end to give the game a extra hour of content.

Very much a cash in feel, and they got lucky that its just ok as the whole thing had a winning formula from the start. Also felt a little short? I'm sure I remember the others being longer.

Tbh from the off it seemed to me like the focus of the game was multiplayer. At one point I thought it was going to be multiplayer only and released as a budget title or something, since all I seemed to see was overrun videos etc.

Multiplayer so far is superb in this for me too. I'm usually top of the leader board with a greater than 2.0 K/D. (sometimes, rarely 10.0 K/D :|) The headshot detection feels perfect in this one, I went back to gears 3 with a mate who only has that earlier today and it feels miles better. Even just the general connection feels a lot nicer.

In that case I wish I was interested in the multiplayer then, becuase the single player is not very good from what I have played of it.

For me it's not that it's more of the same that's the problem, I don't feel it is more of the same, and for me that's the problem as I love the series and they have ruined whats great about it. They have removed the assured pacing, and replaced it with fast gameplay that is foucsed on getting a high score. It just doesn't work. This isn't what gears is about.
