I've been looking forward to this for so long now, Saints Row 3 was arguably one the greatest co-op experiences this generation.
I've played 1 hour which has just got me through the intro/tutorial, I've been laughing out loud on several occasions.
I think they really found their place with Saints Row 3, which was not to try and be another GTA clone, but to instead be the most ridiculous, bombastic OTT game possible and it looks like SR4 is no exception to this.
During the intro the game has already parodied or referenced
.
The game is based off the back of Saints Row 3 and it shows, having come off a 40 hour playthrough of Saints Row 3 you can see that the graphics have immensely improved, mainly at the expense of the frame rate which really could be better. I can let it off though because it is so fun, people who didn't tolerate SR3's framerate probably want to go for the PC version or hold out hope for a next gen port (unannounced) .
They seem to of really let loose with the accessibility of the game, very quickly you have the ability to run at super speed and jump like the character from prototype, they've ditched collecting cars in garages, instead once you get in one, you can hold down the dpad and save it, once this is done you can materialise it next to you. I'd imagine there are lots of things like this now, where Volition have ditched the tropes of GTA in favour of not holding you back from anything.
I'm gonna go play some more, could people posting please be careful with the spoilers as they are genuinely funny and you don't want to take away the pleasure of those unexpected moments. I kind of like it when a game like this comes along, you have comedy in other mediums but you rarely get a game you could describe as a comedy.
