Haha, it is rare for me to even bother collecting Pok?mon. I'm more about correctly breeding good Pok?mon to maximised their abilites (natures, EVs etc) for metagame usage. I'm exploring everywhere, fighting every trainer I can and trying to grab all the items in the field but yeah it's just a sprint to the finish right now really. There's always lots to do after beating the Elite Four anyway. I did complete my Pok?dex in R/B/Y, Gold and Sapphire though.

One thing I have noticed about this game is the sheer amount of Pok?mon in the field. Randomly finding an Axew early in the game for example means I have a Haxorus now. Even seen a wild Eevee!

As for the menus - I love them, they're just so much easier to navigate and less time consuming. Lots of stuff in this game seems to be designed with efficiency in mind.

Is this easy for a 7 year old to pick up? I've never played any of them (don't do RPGs), but thinking it would make a good Xmas pressie for the boy.

I'm also getting this for *ahem* a small child for xmas, by which time you fanatics will all be pimped out with PokePosses at lvl 1,000,000 or sumthin and bossing the place. So I imagine 'he' wouldn't be able to compete online...?

I don't see why not. As mentioned previously the Exp. Share now makes it hugely easy to go through the whole game and get your other Pok?mon raised alongside your starter should you wish to do so. I think a younger child may take 30-40 hours on a play-through but the game is pretty simplistic and I would consider it to be one of the more user friendly titles in the franchise.

I think it would make a great present. The game looks amazing and even if they don't storm through the game there's so many Pok?mon to play with and train that I can see a child being entertained in the same way I was as a 9 year old with Red version. I know my brother at an earlier age of 6-7 had no real issues with Ruby and that seems far less accessible than this in comparison.

I've read that when you play online you can see/challenge/get challenged by other players. Is it the case the you only 'see' players of similar EXP levels, or is it totally open so you could be jumped by someone massively overpowered?

I would have to wait and see. As of now there's very little information out due to it being a global release.

When you switch on wireless during the game you get a side scrolling list of random people that you can challenge.

I clicked on one and went to battle. My level 12 sparrow thing was no match for his team of level 50 legenderies.

Yeah I tried some random matching using the PSS. A few people had some Pok?mon that made me wonder why they bothered to try it so early on. Seems the game doesn't record losses though, just says I have 5 wins so far. That mode seems to be equalised to level 50 too, not sure if this will be the case with all online modes. Almost certain hope it won't be against friends at least. Right now I need to find me a ditto and a Pok?mon with the nature that halves the amount of steps it takes to hatch an egg.. Or just hope I get lucky nature wise with caught pokemon.

What I do like is that on the summary screen beneficial stats are blue and negative stats are red in accordance with the Pok?mon natures. Also the final boutique is full of clothes to the amount of 1.3 million Pok?mon money. You also have to fulfill a style requirement to get inside.

35 hours in now. Ditto 100% nature mechanic still works and Super Training along with Vitamins let you EV train pretty effectively. Still need to explore that more. You can even easily reset EVs with a "Reset Bag".

Most of the information I'm after right now isn't available on the net yet it seems. Not a surprise I guess, hope the guide getting released adds a ton of new information.

My starter is level 92 right now.. Lol.

Anyone else made much progress? This game has completely stopped me playing Tera, definitely hooked.

Must admit not enjoying this is as much as I was expecting/hoping. First Pok?mon game of this ilk and pretty bored a few hours in, don't get me wrong, looks great and plays nice, just not for me. May leave it a couple of days and come back to it.

Pretty happy with the Super Training stuff.

Need a few more Dittos with certain natures, to decide what I want my party to be generally and to find out how to calculate IVs in gen 6.

Certainly feels as if they have made the game more accessible for the metagame finally.

I've noticed this too. Due to stuff going on at the weekend I've only been able to put around 4 hours in, most of which was spent walking round in circles in long grass just finding moar and moar Pok?mon lol. Apparently there are around 450 in the Kalos Pok?dex? Personally I'm more of a collector than a power trainer.

The way they've streamlined the interface for this one is brilliant. Jumping into a battle or trade with a friend is a 2 minute job from anywhere in the game world. And voice chat! Pretty awesome. How many other 3DS games even have voice chat?

Love the graphics. It was pretty exciting when it first started to see your bedroom FINALLY rendered in 3D! The battles look great too, and I like the nostalgic touches like the cries of monsters remaining the same as R/B/Y.
