    Playstation 4 review

I have had a good hour with the system this morning and I have to say I'm very impressed with it. the PS4 truly is a wonderful piece of kit. It looks really smart and sleek sat on my tv stand and is, compared to the Xbox One, very compact.

It was a dream to set up, very easy and quick. the OS is silky smooth, much more than I had expected. What's also nice is just how silent the system is easily as quiet as Xbox One. The Dual Shock 4 feels so good in the hands, lightweight and sticks and buttons are perfectly placed. I thought the d-pad on the Xbox One controller was nice if anything this is even better.

I have the epic bundle so have been playing around with the camera and I was not expecting it to be as impressive as it is. The voice controls whilst limited at the moment compared to Kinect are very accurate and work just as we'll as Xbox One. What is also a nice little feature is that you can use the sensor on the pad with the camera to type messages. Takes a while to get used to but you just move the pad Wiimote like to select the letter. I find it much quicker than selecting each letter at a time.

So far first impressions are very good, downloads are super quick, even over the wireless network. I haven't played Killzone yet, I'm to busy exploring the system.

Already got my US account up and running too so Blacklight is downloading also. Can't decide between the controllers, will need a week of play to properly compare. At first impression though the XBO's controller has more weight and better feeling sticks whereas PS4 has a crystal clear speaker built in and vastly better L&R1 buttons

My son uses my uk account, so I had to use my original us account I started years ago, but need a us ps plus account, lucky Amazon are doing a year for 30 dollars today only, so I'm using my laden trophy us account, on the machine love it, at least I've played some games, which took me ages to get forza 5 to a working state last week, so nothing but positives on the ps4. , but I still think Xbox has the better games, with. Forza and dead rising plus killer instinct.

You could just make another UK account, or create a sub account for your son.

I have a spare 30 day trial on the NA PSN if anyone wants it.

I'll take that Kryss if you don't mind!

So far had a good explore round the UI, synced my phone and my vita to it and played a little Killzone and NFS!
The pad is WAY better than a DS3...unsure if I prefer it to the 360 at the moment tho.

Downloads are at a different level than PS3, so that is good. (Getting 6Mb a second on a 100Mb pipe)

GUI is the best I could have hoped for. It's the windows 7 of games consoles. Clean, fast, easy, no clutter & Blue. Everything loads quickly.

Downsides are twofold so far. 1.) It is loud as hell! Both the fan and the BR. 2.) The light from the controller reflects off the TV, fixed with some tape, but WTF?

One thing I do like over the Xbox One is just how much more welcoming the PS4 is. Just seems much warmer with the lovely blue background and rather relaxing music that plays, very nice. Where Xbox One is just black and cold with no sound.

How is it compared to the Jasper (and earlier)?

I'm really impressed at how atraight forward it was to setup, I was up and ready in about 20mins or so... My game didn't arrive with the machine, so I've been messing about with the apps and GUI...

It seems slightly wider, more comfortable to hold, your thumbs don't hit each other and it's slightly textured, the curved triggers make the shoulder buttons more usable. The d-pad definitely feels like it would be a good fighters pad, although the right hand buttons feel tacky and cheap. Overall I'd say it was a definite improvement.

                              Love it!

Its quiet, fast, easy to navigate *most* menus.

The pad light is a bit of a pain. Deleting screenshots requires delving into the settings instead of just being in the options when you view them.
