Got to say demon souls tested my patience but dark souls destroyed it i found it far to frustrating
You make the game alot less frustrating by embracing magic and using a.i or player summons, it all up to how difficult you want to make it as I found a pure melee setup is doable but expect rougher time.

Quite a few more annoying bosses are optional this time like smelter and gargoyles.

that's a question i can't answer with a yes or no since i didnt finish the game yet. but i've fnished both Demon Souls and Dark Souls and i really wasn't expecting to struggle so early on in this game (Pursuer boss fight). but of course i can take another route and an easier boss to progress. or i could team up with a phantom which makes the fight a walk in the park. i'd say this game seems less balanced in terms of difficulty for single players and more tailored towards online-coop and mulitplayer than the predecessor.

Smelter fight was a real pain beat him last night what annoys me with that fight is that there is a item that makes him a piece of piss. That said his fight is very easy to avoid.

        Said item is the

Gyrm Greatshield 100% Flame and Physical damage makes the fight a cake walk, it's a random drop from the Gyrm warriors and requires a strenght of 32 to use.

I supect a few of the bosses will get heavily nerf in the next patch or two, Sentinels and Smelter are giving alot of people problems, saw this on the Metro website today. http://metro.co.uk/2014/03/23/why-iv...ature-4672733/

I don't think From Software had finished balancing it when they released it and it's not as polished as the first game on release that's for sure. Yes I'd say it is harder, but I think it is based on the route you take in the game, certain bosses seem to be a different tier to others in difficulty.

If he invested his levels into intelligence, he would have beaten them....shame.

He was a high level sorcerer build therefore would already have high INT. Anyway, what a pansy.

"My problem was that I had my heart set on a Mage build. I’d reached level 80 and was armed to the teeth with a multitude of hard-hitting spells. I gave my Mage high hit points to make up for being lacking in the weapon, armour and shield department when compared to the Warrior class. I’d put enough points into my stamina, strength and dexterity though to wield a +5 lightning sword, a decent medium shield and hard leather armour. Logically I couldn’t stand toe-to-toe against big hitters but my encumbrance was under 50 percent, allowing me to jump around enemy blows and take them out at a distance with my lethal collection of spells."

Looks like he'd invested all over the place Silly pansy indeed.

I kind of like the fact that you're not forced to fight all of the bosses before you can progress. If the Pursuer, Smelter or Sentinels are giving you a hard time with your character build then come back to them later when you're better prepared.

the fight can be skipped if you use the No Man's Wharf access to the Lost Bastian and have a Pharros Lockstone.

Otherwise I would advise going online and killing a boss as a spirit to regain your human form back or going another route in the game.
Thanks for that! I don't have Xbox Live so I can't go online. I'm pure melee too and finding this a lot more difficult than Dark Souls 1, as it's not always possible to pull out enemies one by one if they're in a group. I've taken a break from bosses for a bit and been grinding to raise some of my stats. Lost Bastille is now a ghost town.

Is there anywhere in this where you can smash up titanite chunks, blocks, etc., like old Chompy Wormface in Dark Souls 1?

Soapstone summoning still seems balked, by the way. No gold signs to be seen anywhere, and my own never got me summoned last night. Invasions are alive and well, though, as I'm getting a few of these every session and happily managing to see them off: one clown invaded me and disguised himself as a plant trying to look all inconspicuous-like in an area with no other plants, so I deaded him.

No, not that I've seen so far however

you can buy Titanite Shards from the blacksmith daughter if you buy all 10 shards she sell at first, she then gains infinite shards and Large Titanite Shard for sale, the blacksmith McDuff sell infinite Large Titanite Shard in Lost Bastian.

I've been sitting outside the rat boss for ages and no summon signs, what gives?

Does this mean no one else is online? Is there a good time of day to play?

Have you finished it already and you are on your second run?

                                No. First play through.

There are just no summon signs anywhere. Does this mean no one is online?

What's going on? I need help on this boss. 360 version.
