Youkai watch 2 Ganso/Honke/Shinuchi 3DS review

So well, i ordered the first youkai watch game, and honke... I'm weak

Hehe they are all fun games so they are all worth owning, even the first game as the story is a lot different to the 2nd game. I would recommend playing as both as Keita & Fumie as there is one certain youkai that appears as 2 different versions depending on if you are playing as a boy or as a girl in ganso/honke/shinuchi. In my games i play as Keita in honke & shinuchi and i play as Fumie in ganso.

You need access to the 2nd door in the interlock dungeon that has the diamond skeleton boss inside. There is an item that you need in one of the yellow chests inside the dungeon, you need it to make the youaki appear in your game. If you play as a boy the item looks like a badge with a red letter G, if you play as a girl it's a gold & blue medal that looks like a war medal. If you get the item then the ghost will appear at the grave near your grandmothers house in the upper right hand corner of the map. It appears in the same spot for both Keita & Fumie. It appears as a black shadow for Keita and a white youkai for Fumie.

I'll hide the next bit as it's a spoiler, the reason it's 2 versions is because......

The youkai is actually your dead grandfather which is why it's different for Keita & Fumie.

It's not an obvious youkai to find unless you know what to do so i thought i'd explain that one.

Sorry Tififi i forgot to answer that question.

Ok the houseki nyans (jewel nyans) are split between the 3 dungeons inside of the interlock dungeon, you already have one of the 3 doors unlocked. Whenever you link your game with one of the others and get the keys you will never lose them or lose access to the door in the dungeon it's permanent even if you link again to another version.

Linking the game to get the keys and the save data transfer are totally different, the save data transfer into shinuchi has restrictions on it but just linking your game to get the interlock dungeon keys is totally fine. The game makes it a bit confusing, over on Neogaf in the youkai watch thread i tried explaining it a bit for someone as they were a little confused on it too. Shinuch is always worth playing from the very beginning as they added new cutscenes in the game that would be missed if you transferred your save file and continued from a game that was already completed in ganso/honke.

Ok, back to the interlock dungeon info.

The first door has the red oni inside and the boss is the one that looks like the typhoon boss but he is red. The nyan you can get from the gashapon machine after killing the boss is just rubynyan (ruby).

The second door has the black oni and the boss is the diamond skeleton, the nyans you can get from the gashapon machine at the end are diyanyan (diamond), safainyan (sapphire) & emerunyan (emerald)

The third door has the blue oni inside and the boss is the one with 4 arms and holding 2 flasks of light. The nyan you can get from the gashapon machine at the end is topanyan (topaz).

I don't have my 3DS with me at the moment but i'll try to arrange a time to trade hopefully soon, not sure what spare youkai you have to trade. But you can trade anything A or B rank for my buchinyan if you like. Hopefully you have someone i don't have yet.

The youkai i want the most is tsuchinoko panda but that is extremely rare and you have to streetpass to get it. I have nearly 300 streetpasses at the streetpass hotel and it still hasn't appeared in the VIP room yet. It's the only way you can get it in the game as it doesn't appear anywhere else. Would love to get it one day.

I'll have a look in my games and see what i'm after the most, i'll make a list later.

Oh i see, so it seems like i'll never get all the youkai. You're living in Japan ? There's no one with the game to streetpass with in France

I don't understand, i just linked Honke with shinuchi on my save where i already had the ganso link (the door with the red oni), and i only got two doors instead of 3. Did i miss something ?

You might need to link ganso & honke together then go into shinuchi so the linked save data on the SD card then gets linked to shinuchi.

I think it works like this....

Ganso > Shinuchi = 1 key
Honke > Shinuchi = 1 key
Ganso x Honke and then > Shinuchi = 1 key

Try this.......

Load up ganso and select the link function on the title screen and save the data to your sd card. Then turn off your game and load up honke and do the exact same thing, goto the link function and save to your sd card. Take out the game and load your copy of shinuchi and go back to the man at the interlock dungeon hopefully he'll give you the 3rd key.

As for your other question, no i don't live in Japan i live in the UK, i have a homepass relay set up so i get a lot of streetpasses and some Japanese ones come through it too. It's the only way i can get streetpass data as if i do it normally i never get any streetpass hits as hardly anyone here goes out with their 3DS in my city i rarely ever get a streetpass when i take mine out.

What is a homepass relay set up ? Is it like difficult to do ? Cause i guess i could really need that !

There are tutorials on how to configure a wireless router to act as a relay station, if you google homepass tutorial you should find some guides on it. I did my relay a different way i used a raspberry pi computer to build a dedicated streetpass relay, all the info on how to do it is here. http://www.spillmonkey.com/?page_id=5
