http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sho...-Tweaker-Files This needs trying for wheel users.

The file contains all the individual setups for every car in the game.

Doesn't Forza 5 do exactly the same thing?

Most racing games normally employ the rules of: If you go off track the lap time is invalidated, if you go off track on or near the final corner then you'll invalidate your next lap as it could improve your next lap.

If I'm correct, GT6, Forza 4, F1 2013 and Project Cars use the same rule.

Yes I think 99% of decent racing games do nowadays.

Thought this was a decent review of the game, and worth a read for anyone who hasn't picked it up

I'm beginning to warm to the Escort RS1600, having just completed a race with one.

Is it my imagination, or does your engineer sound like Christian Horner over the DS4 speaker?

I think it's Ben Collins (Stig) who's your pit crew engineer over the speaker.

lap time rules in Forza 5 never catched my attention since, thanks to the lack of qualifying sessions, i have to work my way through entire field every single race anyway.

however, the way lap time invalidation is applied here may root in real race sports but feels unfair in most cases and sucks most when AI drivers push you off the track.

thanks for the link - very helpful! have you already tested both files? which one do you prefer?

And any slipstreaming invalidates the laptimes too, so basically any normal race is a no-hoper for the leaderboards - you have to go to the dedicated rivals mode.

The amount of flame wars going on in the Steam forums is insane for this game. Many people comparing it to Assetto which is a little unfair in a few ways.

I made this post over there which I think IMO is what it boils down to.

"I've never seen for a long time so many people complaining about two games.

I own both so who is the loser in this case?

Having spent a good few hours with Pcars and a bunch more with AC I can say, the FFB on AC is better. It feels more natural, the tracks have tiny little bumps in the road which you can barely sense in Pcars. This makes for a more accurate simulation when track racing. Hot lapping and online racing in AC can be sublime. Near perfection.

Pcars has the better presentation, more content and easier to access and setup. Quite clearly you can see it had console vibes going for it in its multi platform production. This is not a bad thing. I'll assume more people will play Pcars so the online part might have more lobbies to join. Also more content is coming for free.

Buy both, enjoy them for different reasons. Win win."

To the untrained eye they may seem similar but to racing fans there's a definite difference and feel between them. Also AC is on PC only. So much more limited user base. Modding is solid for AC. It's kind of an enthusiasts game. Pcars floats more towards the centre of players. Still tons of options but more friendly and easier to drive. Mistakes are punished less.

Yesterday I was floating between both games, doing a few hours on AC then a bit on Pcars and back again. Had a stunning couple of online races at Spa for multiple laps for 4th, 5th and 6th place. I've never felt that excitement before in a racing game. We overtook each other but always within a few car lengths. Right down to the final corner.

If you have a PC and like racing games then AC is a no brainer. Don't buy it for it's poor career mode or it's lack of content. Buy it for it's quality on the track and sense of racing.

It's hard to argue for one or the other and as mentioned above buy both. I also have Dirt Rally which is a whole other world of awesome (when it works).

BTW* The best FFB file for Pcars I found to be the Fy+Sop mix file. I think the author of those files also commented how he prefers that too.

Only good for Xbox One owners, if you have a PC or PS4, here's a better review:

By having the courage to rewrite the racing game rulebook, Project Cars manages to carve a space for itself alongside the genre's finest, writes John Robertson.

i also have setup the Fy+Sop mix file, but have yet to compare with the standard settings. still struggling to keep the SR8-RX on track in slow turns. i had hoped the rear would be a bit more predictable now but this seems to be a problem of handling setup of the car itself strenghtend by the tire temperature coming down to quickly in PC.

Hmm yeah, it still doesn't feel right does it even with the files installed and tyre temps too. A patch came out yesterday but no idea if that was to fix any of the control issues.

could someone please do a few rounds at Imola GP in the SR8-RX with assists set to real or off and report back if there is a tendency to spin out in slow turns? this car is really driving me crazy and i wonder if it may be a bug or default setup problem.

This game sounds like a total nightmare.
