4gb 1.5 patch hit today, alot of bug/exploit fixes and a few additional things, the only major one being low level shop bells carrying over in to new game+

Sigh. Sadly the patch has not fixed the frame stutters on PC. These impact what is otherwise a very good game, but unfortunately it can make this unplayable if they happen at the wrong time (and it's not predictable). I'm running this off NVME with 32GB of fast RAM on the 3080 Ti, it should not be getting framerate stutters of 2-3 FPS.

Oh no, I hope they haven't patched out the Super easy rune farm found in the secret snow world. It worked last night but I did not check out the version but I can confirm I was booted back go the title screen upon loading the game. So maybe the patch was installed?

Unless it's an exploit, From never patched out farming spots.

I did experience slower framerates in theore demanding areas but never frame stutter, and I'm running on a vanilla 2080 at 4K, with some effects turned off because I don't like them, like motion blur.
Are you running on Win11 with a Ryzen? IIRC the OS still has problems with the scheduler for that processor, which causes stutters.

I do have problems with the screen going black for a few seconds, probably because the video card and the monitor can't agree on the correct VRR , but restarting the game once usually foxes that.

I'm using a Ryzen 5800X and Windows 10 and I'm using the "optimise" option that's there. This is a game issue: https://www.polygon.com/22950618/eld...-steam-reviews

The scheduling issues were fixed ages ago in Win 11 tho: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-400

Does the build-up of madness/poison/rot, etc. do anything actually different/distinctive to your character or to enemies, or is it just a case of taking off slivers of health when you hit the threshold?

Edit: Ignore me. I checked the wiki. There are some subtle and rather unimaginative differences between the status ailments.

It is an exploit but unbelievably easy to access. All you do is run up the steps to a warp gate then double jump of the platform and fall for a minute while collecting the runes. It is 100% doable every time. Even a kid couldn't fail at it.
No faffing about jumping up narrow ledges. No fighting and no special ability required.

Ryzen built in tpm still causes stutters. I’m in win 10 so turned tpm off but on win 11 only solution is a discrete tpm

I've seen a video of it now, but I still find going chicken hunting is way more effective, considering the runes:time ratio.

I'd agree but for a no effort rune famrm, this is a pretty good one.

Would you guys describe rune farming/grinding as essential? If so I'll get on it in the exploit points (although I hate it).

Essential, no. Towards the end of the game I did grind for tunes a bit to try out weapons that otherwise I wouldn't have had the stats for, but the thing about all the Souls games, is that even if you have 99 in all stats, bosses will still be able to easily kill you if you don't pay attention. Sure they'll take more hits to do so and they'll go down in fewer attacks, but unless you learn their patterns, no value will save you.

I've definitely got to try this !!

And answering the Q above, no but I find it useful for getting fast runes to level up weapons and buy stuff (and if I want to level up fast to raise a stat to use a spell or weapon etc)

As i wanted to fully explore the game and do all the dungeons and optional areas i didnt need to rune farm. i was well above meta level at the end of the game (150 is roughly where they tell you to stop for pvp) Sometimes towards the end of the game when your sat on 200'000 ruins and need 20,000 more to get a level i sometimes went out of my way to kill a few enemy's to get the level before a boss fog wall but this was rare.
