Anyone thinking of going to Evo Nice?

    Comment

Have always said the only way I'd ever consider Vegas is if I went for Evo, and yeah, I must admit this as a halfway solution has been rattling about in my head today. If I do I should probably compete and to compete I'd probably want to actually get some practice in, but particularly seeing how much else goes on around the show floor at Vegas has me thinking I'd also get plenty from just bumming about looking at exhibits, playing stuff casually, and generally soaking up the atmosphere.

Yeah I know what you mean. It's like settling for Euro Disney over Florida IF they can kit out Nice venue like they did recently at Vegas with all those arcades, exhibits etc, I will seriously consider it. Would I compete? For a laugh for sure. I wouldnt practice. Just keep having my several daily sets a day.

Hearing and 10k people in the Sunday venue with only one set of gents toilets really put me of the idea. Plus the last 15 years every time I go to the US I get ultra VIP treatment as someone with my name is on the sanctions list so I have to prove it's not me. Can't imagine the fuss of I turn up at customs with an arcade stick and they start questioning whether an ESTA is the appropriate entry paperwork.

Nice might be a decent alternative.

Was watching a video by MDZ Jimmy last night was where he explained the DR freeze issue, something I didn't really understand. But he did this little demo that I recreated in training and am quite surprised.

In this example I set Akuma to jump, backlash and they do a fireball. If I DR at him the fireball input gets eaten.

My key takeaway here is stop trying to challenge DR so much, it always seems to be the thing that tilts the balance.

I bought a leverless controller over the weekend and thought I would post some thoughts. I have been playing SF since the arcade days, although once Super Turbo was out I was pretty much just a casual player, 6 is the first game I taking super seriously. I have always been a stick player, except in the MD/SNES days and bought a stick for SF4.

The Haute T16 is my first foray into leverless controllers and it's an eye opener. Immediately you can see the benefits, crouch DP are super easy to do, on stick I often did accidental Supers. Inputs are so much cleaner, I very rarely get the wrong move, quite often on a stick in mid combo I would get a Dragon Lash instead of a Jin Rai or vice versa.

Comboing into Super on P1 is something I struggle with on stick but super easy on the leverless, crouch into DRC works flawlessly.

Having said all that simply just moving or jumping is a nightmare and with take many months trying to get used to this, finger fatigue on my left hand is very real, my ring finger is going to need a lot of exercise, it gets pretty stressed after just a few minutes.

It's going to be a long journey but I think on the long run is going to be worth it.

Anyone considering a leverless the T16 is a great starting starter device at £75, a little dongle and it works on a PS5. One thing I might consider it I was to buy again is maybe I would go with the T13, the 16 has a lot of buttons, some I have disabled but that doesn't stop them getting in the way, hopefully it's something I get used to.

I have one, but I don't use it. I try it every now and again, but that's the wrong way to go about trying to get better with it. You simply have to pound at it so the muscle memory grows.

I wasn't enjoying it. I found my weak left ring finger to be something that probably needs even more work on top of all this. Especially when doing my main's half circle cmd grab when facing right.

I just got it as it was fairly cheap at 30 quid, looks and feels nice, but ultimately, I probably already play using what is also considered just as fast for dashing etc. The dpad. I'm used to my Dualsense Edge, so putting the leverless in a draw for a rainy day is no big miss for me.

I don't really have the time to learn either. A balance of enjoying the game for short bursts around having a wife and 3 kids and a dog and me to keep happy. Learning the leverless will take time and unhappiness for me.

The EWC Tournament was pretty darn epic, the first to 5 format for the top 8 really let the matches go back and forth. If you only watch one Hikaru V Xiaohai that was epic. I think we are all sleeping on Aki she seems to be tired very underrated character.

I have been playing this game all wrong, I had no idea you could do this much damage of a raw Drive Rush.

And once I swapped over the the leverless it was even easier to execute, in fact on a stick I find this kind of fiddly as it's difficult to do fwd, fwd while crouching.

So this week so far I have learned two different dump your whole metre combos, tried it in ranked at lunch but unfortunately dropped it both times, the second time I got so excited as I did all the DR parts and thought all I need to do is the target combo eRun in to DP xx Super and fluffed the easy bit 😂

I love the fact that the intro of the trailer combines references from both the original Fatal Fury AES intro (Terry getting out of the Taxi) and the legendary CPS-1 era SFII intro (Scott and Max fighting in front of a crowd).

                          Fantastic!!
