Otogi 2 is in the chart, around number 30 IIRC.

I think 'chart' means top 10 XBOX and PS2 and top 5 GC.

The publishers are paying their profit margin on the games aswell.

Well I traded in 4 games today and managed to get RE4 (which I cant play yet due to my final year report).

The assistant was very friendly, disscussing what games I traded in (Soul Calibur 2 GC, he thought it was great, I said it was hyped to much, Viewtiful Joe GC, just said I recently bought the PS2 verison, Spiderman PS2, both agreed it had to go, and Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, I only traded this because Im getting the 10th anniversary edition)

He didnt take any details down so I may go to my nearer GAME and get DMC3. But to be honest, I doubt I will go for it. Due to the fact it wont get played for a while, plus I havent got any games I wanna trade.

Also as someone asked above can you do this deal any number of times? I previously got GT4 in the deal last week and they took down some details and stuff. Will they check up my details or something?

As a GAME minion I have a stupidly good knowledge of the charts. It is in the offer and the charts go up to No.50 in some stores.
The charts change Thursday morning mind, so it may drop out altogether.

When you say chart are you talking about an all format chart or just the format specific(e.g. only xbox) chart? As I'm thinking of trading in some of my old ps2 games to pick up Shadow Hearts: Covenant which according to the site is in the ps2 chart.

Also as someone asked above can you do this deal any number of times? I previously got GT4 in the deal last week and they took down some details and stuff. Will they check up my details or something?

Taking details is a legal requirement to deal in second hand. They won't check and getting a second game a week later won't even be noticed. Most stores allow 3 trades at a time in this offer, the 1 game stipulation isn't kept to and is only there so if say a Gamestation manager walks in he can be told to fack off. Shadow Hearts is in the charts, and they go off a PS2 1-20, Xbox 1-40 and Cube 1-10 in my store. As long as the game is in that chart you're fine.

I noticed today that some games out of the chart still have the offer stickers on though, so have a good browse! The manager in my local GAME said he'd include Phantom Brave too, even though it never got a sniff at the chart...

Ok so why have I been refused paper mario and others not in the upper section of the chart. I've seen the list of acceptable titles as I know the manager of my local GAME quite well. It's only the games on the list and Otogi 2 definately wasn't on there. Where do you work as I'll come to your store and get PM2 or tales of symphonia or phantom brave please?

yeah you're right - have you seen how much they sell these games for? some of the 2nd hand prices are amazingly high, but people do buy them from there, and besides, it's for publicity.
usually, as i've ended up getting a new game for 99p, i'll tend to buy something else too as i never really have the change on me! random things bought so far while getting a 99p game have been a live starter pack, gc action replay, gamesTM mags and an rgb cable


they don't bother about what the games are, just as long as they aren't footy or wrestling games. i personally steer clear from any sporty games with green in them (eg. golf, rugby) just in case it stalls things - i've done a few F1 games, too.

When I got GT4, i traded in primal, tony hawks 3 and freakout, which i bought from another store for ?12 all in, and also chucked in my gc rogue leader which i never play. all the discs were mint so no problems there...

Well yes and no.
It's good for what you said and increasing the footflow in store.

However, pre 99p offer my stores new sales were 97% chart titles. So people pay ?35 and didn't mind. So why are they know selling the new game for ?20 with a ?20 reduction. I make it 0% profit (though I'm not privvy to what the company pays for games. I'm going off the old figure of roughly ?23 for a new PS2, Cube, etc game.) and even a slight loss.

Bearing in mind my store is in the top 10 of the company all the time, where's the sense? We average 20% pre-owned sales BTW.

Our Cube section only goes to 10 through space, though we'd probably honour some other games that are lower than 10 but still in the chart.

Maybe your store has the chart wrong as Otogi is definitely about 30 in ours, and I went off the list provided by HO.

ToS isn't in our chart and neither is Phantom Brave BTW.
