It'll be good, but in the same way Perfect Dark was to GoldenEye, it won't be revolutionary. More of an upgrade feeling, I'm guessing. :/

i am with you, tyler! the new weapons and their new features keep worrying me since i first saw (and listened to) the new SMG in the singleplayer-demo at last years E3.

the SMG sounds terrible flat and will probably only be effective against stronger enemies while dual wielding them. the new Battle Rifle seems to have a good punch (similar to the Pistol i hope!) and range but lacks the magazine capacity of the Assault Rifle. at least it makes for a good, if not even better, substitute for the Pistol.

what troubles me most is the new lock-on feature of the Rocket Launcher. i fear that this feature makes the tactical use of vehicles (especially slow ones like the Scorpion Tank) pretty useless! just think of clever Elites using a Marine Rocket Launcher with lock-on feature against your assault by Tank! this was very short termed fun! i also don't think that it adds to the multiplayer fun. guess this feature falls into the category "mainstreamed" accessability! let me call this dumb easyness!

        = Halo 2: Bestest & Fastest & More
I wouldnt worry too much about the ghost boosting. when a ghost boosts it cant turn, so it wont be used for running people down too much, more for getaways i feel.

I could have misread it but i'm pretty sure thats what the implication was.....I believe it was from the article where 2 guys blagged backstage to play the E3 demo.

Yep it was a quote taken from Bungie and put on the beeb site. I posted it in the Halo 2 E3 thread that was running but I think they were all taken down. So there's still hope...

The rocket launcher in Halo multiplayer was pretty useless though as getting a missile on target was pretty difficult.

Also, UT has employed a missile lock on for years and it never unbalanced the game. Locking renders the user completely vulnerable as they can't duck behind cover whilst trying to acquire a lock. The result was that it was only useful in certain circumstances.

Brats, you mean the Rocket Launcher in Halo 2 could lock-on to player characters/foot units as well? this would be terrible and most probably ruining a good amount of fun - not only in multplayer but in singleplayer as well!

you simply can't compare Halo and UT - these are two totally different game experiences. what works fine for UT could well ruin Halo's gameplay and vice versa!

No, I think its for vehicles only. I know they are different games, but when the lock on for UT was first announced, fans of Unreal were equally appalled. But in reality it was no biggy.

I think because vehicles are going to play such a big part in Halo 2, it might be necessary. They might also be protecting the drivers of such vehicles better against smaller arms. In Halo for instance, if anyone gets in a tank it's a piece of pish to take them out with a pistol even from a distance. Maybe Bungie have adjusted this so it is harder with smaller arms but balanced it by making it easier to use the RL?

Maybe because the vehicles are now destructible, damage isn't passed on to the driver of human vehicles the way it was in Halo? So getting hit by a rocket in a warthog wouldn't necessarily mean instant death, instead you might take some splash damage and be thrown clear whilst the hog takes the majority of the hit and loses a wheel or two. Perhaps. Makes sense in my head anyway

just watched the E3 2k4 multiplayer demo again and noticed how super fast the red Elite goes down while taking fire from dual wielding Needler plus SMG!

hmph, i'm not sure if i will like this. i mean fighting Elites should not be like chicken shooting! i wonder if Elites are also able of dual wielding weapons in singleplayer - this would at least even the odds a bit

Multiplayer is different to single player.

Not only do different coloured Elites suffer damage in different ways from different weapons, but let's face it, we don't know how accurate the elite takes damage in multi-player compared to the single player experience.

A grenade to the 1337 in single player was good night, you can't do that with dual weapons... it's all about balance...

nips, probably and hopefully you're right. but as you see there's still a lot of things that could give us sleepless nights if we wouldn't trust in Bungie, right

btw, anyone preordered the limited edition already? US or PAL? any infos on how limited the limitation is?

Aye, that makes a lot of sense.

I ordered the limited edition US version the day it became available from VGP. Stands to reason I would get it, it'll look nice next to my limited edition Halo XBox .

Same here, I pre-ordered the LE Halo from VGP the day it came available which was a few weeks after hassiling them about it after it was announced...lol!

I aslo pre-ordered the normal Halo when it first became available before they decided on free shipping for ntsc-uk ppl, must sort that out.

As for the LE, all I've heard so far is a US release but tbh I can't see them not releasing it wordlwide surely, tis a money spinner and great promo for them?

I had assumed the rocket launcher works like the one from Half-Life, where you can add 'aftertouch' after firing. Shame if it isn't like that, would have been cool

i wish the limited edition would contain the Halo 2 OST - this would make a more than reasonable purchase for me! the Halo OST is my most played game soundtrack ever -simply one of the best suitung soundtracks of all time! and from what i've heared in the Halo 2 demos so far, it's probably getting an equally good successor i simply can't wait for it!

just picked up the news that Halo 2's PAL release is postponed to November 11

anyway, since i don't have an umodded US Xbox and i don't want to miss out on the Xbox live experience i guess i have to get the PAL version of the limited edition!
