The 'unheard of games that everyone should like' thread

    OK, I'll start.

Surely, I can't be the only person that owns this delightful gem of a game called...

Slap Happy Rhythm Busters for the Japanese PS One

It's a brilliant anime shaded one on one Street Fighter style beat em up with excellent techno like trance music that also adds a very unique Beatmania theme to it as well, where you have to 'key in' Beatmania style when you activate a special combo.
Buy this game and try it out yourselves now! You won't regret it!

It looks very cool and interesting. I guess the reason I have never heard of it is the fact that I stopped bothering with the PS1 in 99.

4 of my favourite games this year have been Japan only GBA games. They weren't necessarily released this year, it's just that it's only now I've got them. Not sure if people have or haven't heard of them, but I'll post them anyway:

Legend Of Stafi 1,2 and 3.

An original 2D platformer from Nintendo starring a little Star Fish! Mixture of underwater and on land platforming, there are little mini games to play to break up the action. You also buy outfits for him to wear, similar to Hamtaro in this aspect. The 2nd and 3rd (out soon) are readily available, the 1st one not so much.

Koro Koro Puzzle - Happy Panechu!

Another Japan only Nintendo game. This one is a puzzle game, the original slant being that the cart features a sensor similar to Kirby Tilt 'N Tumble. You tilt the Gameboy in all directions to move the blocks, group enough and then explode them to defeat the opponent.

      Guru Logic Champ

Puzzle game, my favourite game mentioned here. Essentially it's a Picross style game, you have a picture that you have to fill up with blocks to complete the image. In between there are crazy little stories that show somebody in peril and you need to help. My favourite so far was a character was shaking his head from atop a building. All of his dandruff was falling from the building on to the cars, causing them to turn brown and crash. Our heroes then jump up with razors, cut his hair and stop the dandruff. All of these outlandish stories have little to do with the game in honesty but they're very funny and bizarre. There's also one which appears to be a wanking one Screenshots

          Daemon Vector

You've never heard of it, for good reason :P

          Pippo

Amazing Spectrum ZX81 game. Had the most fantastic music at the start, and was a wacky puzzle game with you jumping on coloured blocks. If only I could find a midi of the music...

          Tanks and Stuff

One of the earliest Capture the Flag games. One of the first 4-way split-screen games, requiring 4 players who had their own base to go around, nick flags, and take them back to their base. Of course, you could just hang around other peoples bases and piss them off...Fantastic stuff.

'Crete: 1943' on the Amstrad CPC. Must have played this a thousand times, shame you could never win against the computer if you played the Germans or the Allies.

I'll be astounded if anyone else has ever heard or played this game.

              Take Two.
It's a word game, based on scrabble but without the board and at a fast pace. Kind of like Slam but with letters. Er.

Oh yeah, they're not video games. Just wanted to share.

Probably loads of people here would've heard of this because its a Square RPG but anyway. Live A Live. Its a fantastic rpg which experiments with different ways of story telling within the rpg genre, using loads of different mini stories which all link up in the end. Check it out if you haven't heard of it!

Hey, if you want to cheat and not mention video games (although there is in fact a PalmOS conversion out there), Fluxx is an absolutely brilliant multiplayer card game from the US. Basically, start with a simple rule of pick up one, play one. But while the card you play could be an inventory object, its more likely to be a new rule.

Working the rules to your advantage, and changing the player goals to something you can achieve gets REALLY devious, particularly when you then suddenly scupper the opponent's plan totally by rotating hands, forcing people to play their entire hand at once and other such evil measures.

Hunter on the Amiga (Quite famous at the time, forgotten now)
                    Exhaust Heat 2 (SNES)

This is so subjective, though. I mean, to a regular FIFA-buyer, Pro Evo is probably unheard of :P

I know it was kind of a classic back then, but Carrier Command is criminally overlooked these days. Though I bet it looks horrible.
