Low G Man on the NES. Utterly wonderful platform shooting, with a nice line in last stages of a level being set on a huge thing (like a sub, or alien mothership).

Now, 'Datastorm' (Amiga) or say 'F-29 Retaliator' (Amiga) they are games that have been criminally overlooked.Last edited by gizmo1990; 16-07-2004, 14:38.

Wings was even better though, tbh. By the end of the game you had more kills than the rest of both sides put togetherNo Rocket Ranger or It Came From The Desert. How can they not be in a top 100 list!?
Wings was indeed top, but F-29 really opened the flight sim up to more people. It's 3D engine was superb too, great stuff.

F29 was appallingly bad, lets not **** about. Defeating enemies consisted of launching a Cruise missile in it's vague area. There was no tension and collision detection was awful. Anyone remember trying to take of the first runway and getting the famous black screen of death because you clipped the tower that was, by all laws of accountable physics, three miles to the East and 2,000 feet below?
Nice Graphics though, at the time.
Wings, was ace.
Carrier command would be so good with an co-operative online option.
I still like populous, and play it every so often when i've an hour to kill.

Nice Graphics though, at the time.As I remarked, F-29 was one of the first 'simplified' modern jetfighter sims i.e. it actually allowed you to engage in dogfights with machine guns. You obviously couldn't find the 'decrease throttle' key or simply were rubbish at the game.
Granted the game had bugs (though I don't recall the one you mention) but nothing that prevented play or completion. Plus, as I recall, after a couple of months these were ironed out.

Another Japan only Nintendo game. This one is a puzzle game, the original slant being that the cart features a sensor similar to Kirby Tilt 'N Tumble. You tilt the Gameboy in all directions to move the blocks, group enough and then explode them to defeat the opponent.
Guru Logic Champ
Puzzle game, my favourite game mentioned here. Essentially it's a Picross style game, you have a picture that you have to fill up with blocks to complete the image. In between there are crazy little stories that show somebody in peril and you need to help. My favourite so far was a character was shaking his head from atop a building. All of his dandruff was falling from the building on to the cars, causing them to turn brown and crash. Our heroes then jump up with razors, cut his hair and stop the dandruff. All of these outlandish stories have little to do with the game in honesty but they're very funny and bizarre. There's also one which appears to be a wanking oneScreenshots
I got this game - It's ****ing cool.
bowser123, I love Mario Picross sorta games - How long has Guru Logic Champ been out?I'd quite interested in that....

AND the Police Story games, before they made that FMV crap-a-thon.
Star Wars on the NES were grand, too
That was back in Sierra's golden era... when they released stuff like Laura Bow.

I actually found out about the game through this site .
The basic idea is similar to Mario Picross but it plays a bit different. I'll try and explain with this screenshot:
The main of the game is to complete the picture, basically fill the light brown patches with a limited amount of blocks. Your guys (the "ducks" at the bottom of the screen) never move from that position, you rotate the canvas around them with the L and R buttons. You fire blocks in straight lines that get stopped by other blocks. If there's nothing to stop the block then the shot can't be made (for example in that puzzle you can't shoot a block from the bottom right square to the top right square as there is nothing to stop it).
To complete that puzzle what you'd fire a block to where it says 1. You'd then fire another along the path line 2. This will fill the left yellow gap on that path. You'd then pick up the original block fired along 1 and refire it down 2. Once a block is placed it won't move by rotating the board, firing against it, etc, the only way to move it is to pick it up with the B button. You can only pick up a block if nothing is blocking it's path too.
That's made it sound complicated (it isn't), although the puzzles do get taxing on about the 3rd world. The other element to it is every puzzle is timed so there is always the incentive to go back and do them again to get a quicker time.

Rakugaki Showtime would have to be one of them.. A very hard to get hold of Japanese only Treasure PSX game:
And I am another fan of Koro Koro Puzzle - Happy Panechu! - Fantastic game, which unfortunetly isn't playable on my SP due to the cart positioning.
I quite liked Dog of Bay on PlayStation2 aswell. Not as refined as GitarooMan or the like, but its a good un with people with dog heads. Neat
