Beating Master 3 on Super Monkey Ball made me dance around the room like a loon, swearing massively at the TV. That was good.

Wasting Safer Sephiroth in one go.

I can only remember a few, although i suspect there are many more!!

        - Completing all 96 levels on Mario World so the level number appears blue at the load game screen.

        - Getting the infinite ammo cheat on Goldeneye (in the control room). Took me ages to perfect this. I ended up doing it for more than a few friends too.

        - Being able to pull off a spinning piledriver at will, I am practically invincible with zangeif!

        - And next, probably my greatest acheivment....getting all platinum medals on Blastcorps, planets and all. Anybody who has tried this was probably left with 2 levels left to do, both incredibly hard levels using the ****ty bike. Took me ages to so these, but the sense of accomplishment after was incredible.

        - getting 102'000 on 1080 (N64) on the single jump level (or whatever it is called). Anybody rememeber the combo?......360,540..360,540..360,540...and on!

Bit of an obscure one this, but realizing that you could kill the Cosmo Canyon boss in FFVII with one X-potion was friggin' satisfying.

Forgot how good beating the F-Zero story mode missions felt. At the end of each one I'd jump up...

"F**CKIN' COME ON" *waves fists* - *composes self* - *stands there like gazza, all statuesque/Michael Jackson like, after scoring his penny against Germany in '96* Even with no one else in the room to watch my stupidity.

Same here. Apart from all the stuff about school - nobody at work would have been particularly impressed by the achievement, so it was one I had to enjoy in silence. Well, almost silence - when I finally managed I indulged in a bit of jumping up and down, yelling "**** you" and flipping the bird at the television.

What makes that particular one so satisfying is that the odds are stacked against you to such an astonishing degree that it really *is* something to be proud of - not only do you have to drive absolutely flawlessly, you've got to be able to block at the drop of a hat at exactly the same time. It doesn't only ask you to get your recollection of the track down perfectly, but also demands that you're capable of improvising without losing that intense level of concentration.

I'm sure I've said it before here, but nothing else has ever come close.

Emerald and Ruby Weapon on Final Fantasy VII.

I spent hours getting my level and materia high enough to take them on. Emerald Weapon wasn't all that hard, but Ruby Weapon was a royal pain in the arse. I still get a huge feeling of satisfaction when I beat them two.

The last fews minutes of that level are tense. Crossing the control room, not knowing when or if you're going to get sniped by a Moonraker laser, culminating in you defending yourself before the rocket takes off. Those seconds feel like MINUTES.

Beating that was the highlight of my entire week.
Yeah, I know! I usually cower in the corner next to the mainframe where I put the tape in, holding down the trigger and firing me dual Moonrakers.

Of course, I soon figured out I could lure Jaws to the DAT-thing room and kill him there, delaying the akimbo-laser dudes. Just recently, I saw (and copied) a trick on the-elite.net where you get a guard near the mainframe to open the glass doors thereby skipping the need to even see Jaws!

spagmaster: I totally agree! The best bosses do get you going like that... I've often taunted a boss... a collection of pixels, remember, with "Hah! ****ing take that you fat bastard! ****ing yeah." when I beat him. Most recently, Metroid Prime. But yeah, the best bosses should elicit that type of response - like the really good online players that you swear are cheating do.

That buzz. Non-gamers don't know what they're missing.
i dunno so much ady... i was mountainbiking on thursday in a very large disused quarry, launching me and my bike off vertical drops and scaring myself ****less, walking up to the edge of a 20 foot drop thinking "this is big" looking for a line to land, and somewhere to ride off is scary. you sit on your bike visualising how it's gonna go down... calm yourself down, push all the negative thoughts out of you mind and just hit it.

the feeling of flying through the air is amazing, the feeling of landing it and riding away is even better, you turn and look around at what you've just ridden off on a bike, people watching simply saying "you're ****ing mad" and you know that's a buzz...... i really don't think ANY game can come close to that. ever.

edit: i'm actually shaking with adrenaline just reliving that drop...

Well... there was this bit in Excitebike 64, where you go downhill and it feels pretty good...

No, I don't think any game could come close to doing that. Arse.

That pictures' not from Cannock Chase is it? I used to go mountain biking at a disused quarry there a few years ago, it was fantastic.

Spent 4 hours at the rim of the biggest drop psyching myself up to go down, and when I finally did, it was fantastic

EDIT:: yeah, i'm pretty sure that's the exact drop I bricked it at...

They call it "Mummy Bear", we used to call it "The Lip", due to the massive fooking drop that you had to do on it.

                                Soz for going OT :P
