    Gamezville

    Hi,

I remember about a year ago when Gamezville first started on Sky One that it got absolutely slated here. I was one of the many people that posted saying it was completely amateurish and lacking any solidness.

Now, I have to admit that as I have been off for the summer from uni and found it hard to find a job, I tuned in to watch Gamezville seeing as it was now being shown every day at 2. As the episodes went by, it seemed to just get better and better. They did away with a lot of the crap reviews (like asking two seven year olds to give the official 'G' rating) and introduced more accurate and considered reviews from the actual background team.

Granted, the two presenters Darren and Jamie still shout too much and love to wave their arms around, and the people they get to play on the Face-Offs are still mostly lame, but it is now watchable and I actually began to look forward to the next episode. I know it is supposed to be aimed at a younger audience, but the brilliant Consolevania is already for the older gamer who knows about it.

The current series has actually now ended (and replaced with repeats of the first series, which shows how shockingly bad it was originally), but I was just wondering if anyone here had been watching the recent series and what they thought about it.

    Cheers

Got to agree with you. I slated it too - especially The boyz.

Fair dues - it has got much better and is actually quite watchable now.

It helps that they have given Sarah more screen time!

      Love messages to [email protected]

Consolevania is not on TV. You can only download it.

I guess the main thing that you need to remember when watching Gamezville is that it's a kid's TV show. As such, I think it's OK. The presenters aren't the most knowledgeable, especially Jamie and Darren, and I've never been a fan of watching kids playing beat-em-ups but I think it's a reasonable stab at a games show aimed at 12-year olds.

        I prefer Gamer TV, though.

Nips, I do believe the above words are the most concise, romantic, thoughtful and literate words you've ever produced.

            Or not.

I didn't slate it, in fact I was one of the few people who, despite the presenters being a little annoying, thought it had some well researched features. I'd agree it definitely has improved as the show has moved on, as I suspected it would.

Here's the lovely Sarah, though the pic isn't the best ever, so I don't know why they'd choose it.

I've no idea how good or bad the programme is any more, but i've just spent the last 15 minutes reading the forum...

                      My head hurts.

It is now bareable to watch but i would MUCH prefer Consolevania as opposed to Gamezville.
Then again, gamezville is obviously aimed at a younger audience and has to cater for the casual younger gamer.

I've been watching it at weekends, it's only a kids show, but still better than Gamepad, GamerTV or Cybernet. It's a bit stupid at times, the 'pundit cam' is a really stupid idea, yeah let's show you two of the G-Team doing boring commentry cos the face-off action is rubbish anyway. They do cover interesting games from time to time though, saw a review of Gitarooman on it recently.

What is funny is those older contestants who take it seriously and think like, they're wikkid. Oh and the guru.

GamerTV(it that that it's called?) is pretty funny at times though, there was a review of Syphon Filter Omega Strain where the guy playing was getting shot is the head repeatedly in the face from a few yards for the whole review. And they said it was great.

i remember watching the first one ever and thinking: these two twats no nothing about games
it was like they were reading it off an autocue
but i have to admit they have turned it around
oh wait no! it was the guru who turned it around
