By the way... what does everyone think of the SNK vs Capcom series?
The newest one... SNK vs Capcom Chaos is just out? Is this worth investing in?
    Not really: http://www.ntsc-uk.com/review.php?pl...&game=SVCChaos

SvC Chaos is little more than a novelty trip to see what SNK Playmore do with themselves these days, nothing more.

btw, you can buy a PAL Dreamcast, a copy of SFIII 3rd Strike and two Dreamcast sticks for less than ?80 and still have change for many of the other amazing games on the system. Indulge now!

Shame, as it has the best backgrounds and character roster of any SF game. The re-drawn 'Super' characters are a joy to behold. Definitely worth owning, though. I'd plump for the Saturn version.
It's like you and I are brothers, Treb! No one has any individuality in that game and the only non Ryu/Ken characters I like controlling in the whole bloody thing are Rainbow Mika and Karin, purely because they have a very slightly different edge to the mechanics. They even messed up Sakura with her "I'M AN INVINCIBLE JUGGLER" thing. And whose ****ing idea was it to make Bison's Psycho Crusher the whole ****ing screen? The ISMs were an unneccessary inclusion too and only led to that horrible CAPSNK groove system in Cap Vs. SNK 2 (which ruins that for me, despite Kyosuke in 2D = LOVE).

But true, best backgrounds, best "sprite refinements" (as I like to call them) and best presentation as well. And I can't agree more with owning the Saturn version. Is it me, or does the DC conversion just feel... half arsed? I quite liked the PSOne version of SFA3 too, thinking about it. Much better than their attempt at PSOne Alpha 2.

Rhys. If you get the AMERICAN anniversary edition you get Hyper SF2 AND Third Strike. Yes, both games.

I've never played it - never felt the need, owning the Saturn version - but remember either Sidez or Saur saying that the sprite sizes were wrong, as well as the hit boxes iirc.

Yeah, the odd one or two backdrops were a bit crap (Rose's in particular was just a mess, and Vega [Shadaloo]'s was piss-poor), but the good ones were the best ever for an SF game - loads of atmosphere! Particularly Adon's jungle temple, Rainbow Mika's wrestling ring and, my personal fave, Fei Long's stage

I really like SF2 turbo still but I can't be sure how much of my appreciation for it stems from the rose tinted glasses I'm constantly wearing. Out of the new ones I reckon Capcom vs SNK 2 is the best of the bunch because it feels nicely old school (my damn rose tinted glasses again).

The original SF2 games are just so pure - there's no fannying around with super arts (SSF2X aside), big fat long combos or juggles and counters, it's like playing Tetris, it's a game so pure and simple it's never gonna age. It still plays fantastically in tournament conditions and for fun too.

However, I prefer the whole aspect of SFIII, improvements in your playing style are just so tangible. It's just so right ^_^

Well, SF Anniversary has already been released, so you won't get the pack with SFA + 3rd Strike.

Again, buy a Dreamcast and some sticks...you'll never go back

Yeah this seems so strange, people talking about 3rd strikes "anticipated PAL release date". A lot of people must of missed the Dreamcast boat, I got my copy for about 3 pounds.

Some people chose to, in the absence of a decent arcade stick.

Am I bitter with the Dreamcast stick? Yes, yes I am.
