I think banning all group buys is slightly over the top. Obviously if there large amounts of money going around like this whole Weinberg thing thats different.

But group buys can work perfectly well if they are organised correctly. Shame stuff like the arcade buttons/sticks order is banned now

The only reason that was allowed to continue was because it wasn't spotted in Off Topic before loads of people had signed up.

Off topic? You wanna recheck that? Twas in videogame Q/A. Could have also been stopped if you wanted cos no money was take, or orders placed. But that doesnt matter, a blanket ban is over the top

A blanket ban isn't over the top, we've never liked this type of sale, and this is the reason why. Good intentions or not, there is far too much to go wrong, and we do not want NTSC-UK associated with this type of trade.

I remeber over on Rllmuk a while back someone was taking bulk orders for X800 video cards, which ended in disaster before it began.

Stu, the thread you quoted seems to be an unofficial, moan thread about the whole situation in OT. There is an offical trading thread in the relevent forum where only those involved are, or atleast were asked, to participate.

Thread in OT for those who weren't Weinberg's customers. Let's leave this one for people actualy trying to resolve this matter and take the smart remarks elsewere.

Quick update, it appears that Weinberg and his supplier are kosher. Some guys from RLLMUK have spoken to EB, they confirm everything. Basically they only got 10 of our orders, this was a week late. 10 were posted last Saturday. The rest should arrive in a week or two, however refunds are being issued from tomorrow. They got in over their heads, and it appears the supplier lied in an attempt to buy some time, rather than rip us off.

Good to hear you all aren't looking as though you're going to be ripped off. From what I'd read previously, I was fearing Weinberg's supplier was going to do a runner.

Still being sorted. As far as I can tell, Weinberg is waiting on for a reply from PayPal, if it wasn't forthcoming by today, he'd start getting everyone's Bank Details to arrange a transfer, I think that's the long and short of it anyway.
