Are you a back seat gamer?

You know the type. Those annoying bastards who sit and watch people play a game, and insist on telling people where to go, and actually get angry when people do something wrong, or don't know where to go, especially when you've already done it and know exactly what to do.

I'm kind of ashamed to say that I am. Maybe I'm just impatient, or maybe I'm just a twat, but I really hate it when people get stuck at parts of a game that are really obvious to solve, or simply just don't know where to go next. People must really hate me when I'm sat in the room when they're playing.

Odd thing is, I don;t get angry as much when I get stuck. Not sure why.

    Anyone else suffer from this?

It does really frustrate me but I tend to keep it to myself as I know how unbelievably annoying it can be with people telling you what to do. Especially if it's a game you're enjoying playing for the first time. I want to figure it out myself thankyou! That's kind of the point.

And then I go and look on Gamefaqs. It's a complicated issue, to be sure.

I hate it, but I can't help it.

Nope I'm not, and I hate people that do that. I have two friends in particular (both from the same family) that do it all the time, and it pisses me off. I like tyo be able to find my own way through a game. If I wanted help I would ask or read an FAQ.

I like to give my girlfriend misleading/incorrect information when she is playing a game.

Yeah I know the type... *SPLASH!* "Ha! you should've used the 6 Iron!"

Saying that, I actually find it better & more productive to play a new game with a freind if neither of us has played it before, especially if it's in Japanese.

I used to live with a guy who was just that. At the time I was really into Sega Rally and he would watch me play and shout out which direction I had to turn even though I could see for myself AND the game announces all the corners before you get to them too. Bloody annoying it was.

I really like doing challenges in pairs. One person, then the next, then the next. It's competitive and you want to do well for the game and to beat the other person. That really got me through F-Zero GX. I can watch RPGs being played as like a story. That's cool by me.

But rather than being a 'back seat' person, I'm a co-op person. Defo my favourite way of playing. Online co-op is my holy grail. Team based games atm are pretty close, but online story mode co-op is where I want to be.

                    Great stuff.

I do this all the time. Mainly because people playing games that aren't you are stupid. They should have gone left. They should have used the power feather. They should have bought SF: AC. Those kind of things.

I am, but only because the people who I play with are so monumentally stupid that they can't figure out things and/or do them wrong. It pisses me off so much to see a game butchered by a bad gamer and then moaned at for being a **** game.

To my credit, I do it sarcastically to make them feel bad.

I'm delighted to say I haven't experienced this phenomenon for about 5-6 years. There's nothing worse than when someone not only tells you what to do, but does so a split-second before you were going to do it anyway.

Other infuriating ones are: 'aww, you're ****ed now' or 'you're getting caned!'.
