No problem, mate. I think the only problem with internet discourse is that people see any statement as the be-all and end-all. It halts regular conversation. Saying one thing doesn't mean you don't believe another. I know you're a bit of a git, just as you know i'm anal retentive about tings. Luckily, we move on from our deficiencies [EDIT: I don't. I'm always massively anal. Ooh err, etc.]

Edge is an excellent magazine, with good journalists working for it. Granted, editorially it would benefit from change, but it provokes thought, comment and remains independent. I'm no fan, but I appreciate the effort put in to it. Stop moaning. In fact, if you want to moan, do it on rllmuk and see the reaction you get there

Video games are in a poor state, and just because the like of OPM are far worse than Edge doesn't make Edge a good magazine. I still buy Edge for the odd interesting article or developer interview, but most of the mag really has degenerated into complete tosh. And I've bought it since Issue 1 - back then it was a revelation.

Perhaps we just live in an overly saturated era now. When Edge first started the future seemed so new, - PC Engine, Mega CD, CDI, and then the promise of 3DO.

Still I do believe Edge has lost it's way. Games TM shows flickers of hope once in a while, but they need to hire a new page layout guy, as it looks little different from the OPM clones. Too immature, too juvenile. Base it on a proper magazine, something like Empire or Autocare. ie. something not intended for 14 year olds.

Edge was good 4 or 5 years ago but since that time a shadow of it's former self. It may well still be the best videogames mag around but less-**** doesn't equal good.

Or maybe your perspective has changed considerably in the last 4-5 years? We were all 4-5 years younger then, and some of us were less hardcore too

Too close to the truth?

I am sick of seeing internet fanboys, and Edge fanboys are amogst the worst, savaging anything they personally don't aprove of. The venom displayed is just downright nasty.

Rllmuk is obviously full of those kinds of guys. Hence, it sucks.

Totally agree the advertising is ridiculous now, the latest issue is completely OTT.

But it's still a 'grown up' magazine, and far, far better than tabloid **** like Total Film.
