Originally posted by SUMIREAh, I remember another, back in the days of the Playstation. There was a place in Leeds that used to advertise in some of the game mags, seemed to remember the logo was a smilie face or something. Anyway, I remember travelling to Leeds to pick up Tekken for ?75.00 (They never had a shop). I went upstairs in this old office block and met the guy. His business comprised of an old table and chair in a bare room with a telephone and lots of cardboard boxes, that was it. Lol, went in handed the "cash" over and dissapeared....needless to say so did his business after about 3 months.
Oh dear

So everyone seems to have paid over the odds for a SF2 game then?
I actually got the original Japanse SF2 for 40 notes about a week after release. However it cost me the best part of 100 to get Turbo, which is the most I've ever paid for a game on release (as opposed to retrospect where some games just go supersonic in price).Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Got my JP Gamecube a couple of days after its release for ?450, with memcard & 2 games (Wave Race and Luigi Mansion). That was the first and last time I spent a silly amount of cash on gaming gear, my excuse being I was doing well enough financially at the time
Nowadays I see Argos selling PAL machines for ?39.99, and I cry inside a little

Lost ?100 when pre-ordered and bought an N64 only for it to be lowered in price from ?250 to ?150 a mere 2 months later. Other than that, biggest waste of money was Super SF2 for the snes, ?65, plus ?20 for anoteher converter as my original one was now incompatible. So ?85 for SSF2, and it really didn't get that much use. Was last game I bought for snes. Had got Sat job by then and was spenging money on cds, clothes, beer etc.Last edited by RobN; 04-01-2005, 22:48.

Neo Geo AES = ?800.00 ish - Console Concepts, think it was one of the first few in the UK, some HIFI shop bought the other one.
Cyberlip = ?220.00 = Think it was a place called Supervision.
DJ Boy Megadrive = ?95.00 - Console Concepts (Pc Engine Supplies)
Needless to say, I dont jump on the early adopters bandwagon anymore....older and wiser
Sumire, i remember Supervision, never went to the shop. Always ordered over the phone, mainly megadrive games. Very fast on getting games on release from Japan. Also done Next Day Cash On Delivery which was great. I remember waiting for the posty to turn up before leaving for school, handing over ?40-50 on the doorstep, then deciding to f**k school, i've have got Ghouls & Ghosts to play.

Now this gets fun - hold onto your wallets.
Over ?750 for a Japanese PS with RR just after Christmas Time 1994.
?700 for a Japanese N64, including the drive from Stockport to Edge's office in Bath to get it a day before it would have come in the post.
?180 for a Japanese Mario 64 Boxset just before Crimbo 1996 and a daft amount for Starforx boxset later on.
Nearly ?900 for a Japaense Dreamcast with Arcade Sticks, VMU, VF3, Pen Pen and GODZILLA, just days after release.
Around ?800 for a Japanese PS2 with RR and SF EX 3.
Don't even get me started on the prices I have paid for JAMMA boards in the past.
Detect a trend here - more money than sense and spent that much time in Leeds and Stoke On Trent, I nearly had to start paying counil tax!
I have spent thousands on software for early adoption - usually to see the price drop with the next batch the next day - GT3 on PS2 was a prime example.
Thnakfully I'm now older, wiser and spend most of my money on my mortgate and other family commitments, but ti was fun at the time and most of my wages were 'disposable'.
Just a humble PAL Xbox now (never thought I'd say that) but still a happy man, kicking ass on Ninja Gaiden.

I remember playing X Men vs Street Fighter at an arcade somewhere, then seeing it for something like ?70 for Saturn there and nearly crying because all I had to make do with was PAL Marvel Superheros
Anyway, I was one of the lucky ones who paid ?250 for launch PAL n64 a WEEK before they chopped off ?100.
Seem to recall paying some stupid amount for Virtua Racing on the MD, too, as well as the other usual 16 bit prices.
