The PSP Pro V Con Thread!

Ok, i'm 99% certain to be picking one up tomorrow, but before i do, could i possibly be so cheeky as to ask people here who actually have one to post one good point, and one bad point?

    Please?

Good point- Beautiful, big, bright screen.
Bad point- The finish. Far too shiny, picks up finger prints to easily and the machine looks grubby very quickly.

The battery is better than anticipated, giving 4 hours on RR and 5 on Lumines. Importantly, and impressively, any time the machine is turned off or loses battery power it goes into a sleep mode and remembers the exact place you were at in game.

pro - its better than you can imagine, the build quality, screen and certain games are awesome.

con - every time you show it to a jealous 'friend' or talk to a nerd in gamestation they sneer about disks popping out, dead pixels and wonky build quality cos they read it on a website.

      go for it.

          Pro:

Ridge Racers & Lumines are great launch titles.
          Lovely screen.
          Compact size.

          Con:

Build quality is serviceable, rather than good.
          L & R buttons not too sturdy.

Pro - It's a slick piece of kit, plays host to Lumines and Ridge Racers.

Con - Analog stick is naff and it's a finger-print magnet.

Pro - Several generations of a leap in handheld gaming

Con - Speakers are pretty tinny and don't do the great sound justice without headphones.

                  Dogg.

Pro, it is addictive and will reinvigorate your interest in genres you may have forgotten about (RR in particular and handheld titles in general)

Con, when using the D pad if your thumb used to ache in the 32bit era from pressing too hard ir will again now.

Pro - First true example of a handheld that really fully captures the home gamesplaying experience and puts it in your hands. No longer does handheld play feel like a technological step backwards.

Con - More chance of getting scratches than parking a nice car near a gang of teenagers. Make sure you go for the case and screen protector sheets.

PROS - "Oh my god look at it!!!"

CONS - "I said look don't touch it!!! You touched it! Look at the marks!!! I kill you good now!!!"

Right, joke ones out the way...

                        Machine-wise:

Pros - It looks utterly stunning, it sounds utterly stunning (through headphones).

Cons - Analogue "nubbin" just about useless, shoulder buttons seemingly designed for looks rather than use, some issues over the construction (drive door not QUITE closing completely, questionable positioning of some of the buttons/slots - I'm looking at you Mr "Flimsy memory card cover that I keep rubbing with my hand and feels like it's been stuck on by sellotape"). Sounds awful through the speakers...

Games? Well I've only got Ridge Racers which is pretty damn good, just waiting on Lumines and some screen protectors...

Y'all need to get jobs in PR!

My e-bay deal fell through unfortunately, i would've been picking it up in person in Swindon but that's not going to happen now!

Can some please point me in the best direction then for the value pack, RR, Pumine, and screen protectors? I've checked out play-asia.com, is that going to be the best FULL STOP or would somewhere else be preferable? And do these stores actually have them in stock?

Sorry to keep asking questions, i'm dead keen on getting it that's all!

Pros: Everything mentioned above. There's so much going for it, it's hard to find one stellar feature. OK the screen

Cons: Headphones and remote in the value pack are basically rubbish and feel cheap, which they most likely are!

As far as buying one, PA has them listed at 1-5 days til shipping and you could always email them for confirmation - usually a reply is within a few hours. eBay would be good if it was significantly cheaper but looking around it seems prices are the same, maybe slightly cheaper if you buy a bundle.

I would say that there is no 'best direction' to point you in as I see it. The price is still way higher than the RRP and most places have it selling for around the same amount of money. I will also say that I do not regret paying 'over the odds' one bit for mine. If it ever makes if out over here for ?130-150 it's an absolute steal.

Excellent, thank you for everyone's help!

Just ordered it properly over www.play-asia.com

                              1 x Sony PSP
                              1 x Ridge Racers
                              1 x Lumines
                              1 x Metal Gear Acid
                              1 x Everybodies Golf
                              1 x Screen Protectors

Not invoiced FFAF about me doing the site in over six months now, so that's that more than covered! Just gonna sit back and wait now i guess...
