i loved the daily sky one video game show from the early 90's! (it was called gamesworld i think)

two of my friend were on it, we still have the video footage somewhere.

does anyone remember it? and was it david walliams (little britian) who played the character lesley?

Dave Perry was one of the presenters, so I've blocked all memories of the show from my brain.

He was on GM as well I know, but at least he was publically humbled in that Mario 64 challenge.

He cocked it up and then claimed he was "set up very badly"

TV is all about appealing to the mainstream, and that's what GM did. I'm not saying I liked the 'challenge' format, but it was watchable. If they ever did a new series the condition should be that they only use 'established' challenge games (PES, Street Fighter, etc) or they use brand new, yet-to-be-released titles. That way, you get entertained by the challenge and you get to see a forthcoming game in action.
I guess im getting old then. I dont really like watching a load of Chavs playing Streetfighter or whatever. I'd rather just play the game myself....why watch when you can play...especially with all the online games we have now.

Like I say, i'd rather see a more mature slant put on the whole thing. I don't think your comment about it boring people to tears is true. DD's cleaver quips and poor jokes however did bore me to death.

But what if the challenges featured games that hadn't been released yet, or games that were at import-only?

It wouldn't bore me, you or anyone on this forum to tears - but then if the show was only produced to appeal to guys like us it wouldn't even get made. We're too small a group for a mainstream show to be made for. And let's remember that word 'mainstream' - Gamesmaster was a massive success and commanded a prime TV spot, unlike other videogame shows that are shown in the wee hours because they don't get enough viewers. To get that spot GM had to appeal to as many people as it could. And that means dumbing down. But I still enjoyed it.

DD's cleaver quips and poor jokes however did bore me to death.
                Check your pulse mate!

Mayhem - that is TV gold. Even if you don't know who Perry is or even give two ****s about the little twerp, that clip is fantastic. Dom really rubs it in too - especially when Perry tries to make out that the game isn't released yet, and Dom states that it's been out for ages on import and that as someone within the industry he really should have played it...heh heh.

I'll never get bored of watching that clip...it's moments like that made the series so great!

WE don't need a new GamesMaster just more Repeats of the entire classic series on something like Challenge TV (Gutted when they stopped it).
Have to laugh at Perry he might be a good games player but there is no harm in admitting you made a mistake . And to go into that Pal loads of bullsh8t (after reviewing imports for years) just made him look silly, and far from the games animal .

Cybernet, and Gamer TV are still very decent today , and I did enjoy watching When Games Attack.

Nothing for me we beat the very 1st series of Gamesworld on SKY. Not even Gamesmaster could top that show

Just on the subject of Sir Patrick Moore, he is a keen xylophone player. My brother used to be in the Cheshire County Youth Orchestra as a percussionist, and back in about...ooh...'98, '99 maybe they did an outdoor concert in the shadow of Jodrell Bank (whopping radio telescope in Cheshire). Part of the concert was a xylophone duet with me bro' & Gamesmaster himself, in an apt setting considering the great man's astrological knowledge. No disrespect to Sir Patch, but he can't play the xylophone for **** & the ensuing performance was absolutely hilarious, in a "aah, check him out, he's well ancient but he's having a go" type way. Apparently, after the show he was sort of put on a chair in a corridor & ignored by all & sundry, pretty bloody appaling treatment if you ask me!

Gamer TV is pretty good in my books. No annoying presenters, some half decent special reports and best of all up-to-date reviews.

Sorry to drop this in when this is suppose to be about gamesmaster and of course, not to put the dampners on it, but I preferreds Games World on Sky One.

And No I dont mean the newer version of it that was totally sh*t with a really bad presenter, bad games, idiots contestants and no proper `games gurus`.

I mean the series when it first come out, when they had proper challenges, SNES/3DO/NEOGEO all the cult consoles were in it. I dont remeber the presenters name but he was fairly `big built` and that show really knew how the rip the f**king piss outta everyone/thing that went on there.

And the `games gurus` who the contestants went up against were actually really good games players.

                                Master Moriati (sp?)
Games Mersia (omg I just realised my English (or engrish as it were) is absolutely appauling !
                                Bad Boy Barry
And the `games mistress` (aka Jet out of gladiators loooooolll!!!)

Lol I cant beleive I remember those names, but damn in the early ninties that was the show to watch and I must say I dont think anything has come close to touching it.

Also I rememeber a show on Sky TV (really dunno what channel, perhaps challenge tv? although I dont think that was around then). But it used to be on around 4pm and always had super mario bros 3 competitions. That was heavy too !!

                                *rolls around on floor*

                                Hysty ^____^;;;
