Secondly, if you actually bother to read their reviews of DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou and PN03 you would have see that they have done exactly what you have asked them to. Both games are reviewed from the persepctive you asked for. They talk about skill perfection and score achievement.

Can't you lot at least be happy about this minor victory?

    Later.
There's a very good point here. Some people have been crying out for years for Edge to change their review stance and maybe (just maybe) they've done that. Let's assume for a minute they have, then it's no wonder that their reviews are not consistent with DDP scoring higher than Psyvariar et al. Maybe, if the "new" Edge was to review Psyvariar again, maybe they'd give it 9/10, but they can't do that.
maybe its just that a different person reviewed DDP to Psyvariar...

Saur- you should really read the review before you come down so harsh otherwise you might end up upsetting people only trying to get things right...

I could bitch about Psyvariar being a blatently better game than DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou, but hey, Edge are way behind with their import reviews, most of them seem to be more retrospective now. So it's not such a big issue anymore.

Who cares about mag scores, while some will use them as guidelines, many read 2-3 reviews to get an idea if they like a game.

At the end of the day, everywhere, be it website or mag is going to have scores that some will not agree, so what?

I'm no fan of Edge but the impressions i'm getting (I could be wrong) is that the majority of scores are wrong because they don't agree with yours? Well boo ****ing hoo, don't worry about it, continue doing a good job on your site and let Edge do whatever the hell they want. And besides, gamesTM issue 6 is out next week, so you'll have me stuff to pull apart

            Well said.

Come on people. So they give on beat 'em up a slightly higher score than another? They obviously rate both as they both got high scores, but prefer one over the other.

            That's their opinion.

            End of story.

There isn't one in this months issue, you'll have to wait abit longer to hike your prices up.

Ill give the magazine a proper read this afternoon, but initially I dont see the sense in this.
I think they're trying to make a couple of points one being an experiment to see if the quality of the writing would stand up as a buying guide without the score.

The second point is that normally when you read a review, you'll read it in this order.
                  i) Turn to page
                  ii) Read game title
iii) Read the score at the end of the review
                  iv) Read the review

The point is, that as you're reading the review your stance will already be a influenced by the score you've read.

If I flick to a page to a game I haven't really heard of and see a 4/10 or a 5/10 then, if I'm being truthful I don't think I read it with as much care as if it was a game that got an 8 or 9. Why bother cause i'm not gonna buy it?

Personally I like the experiment. Unfortunately I managed to catch a couple of the scores without getting the mag first, but for some of the later reviews I've avoided the scores so I can see if it changes how I read the review.

They ruined the SH2 plot twists as well. Thank **** I didn't read that review until after i'd finished the game a dozen times. Incompetant ****wits.

Anyway man, if you're looking forward to SH3 even half as much as I am, then I feel for you

It was the structure of the SH3 they've ruined. Exactly what places you go to and in what order...

I suppose it could have been worse. But yes, the SH2 review did totally ruin the one of endings (the first I happend to get ) because of a very strong hint.

Thanks for the heads-up Concept. I too wont be reading Edges Silent Hill 3 review until its been played through to completion. There is nothing worse than a review that gives away spoilers, and from previous experience I wont risk the possibility of there being any in the Edge SH3 review.

Why don't you simply not buy the magazine marcus? Spoilers in reviews is so pathetic and low. Complete disrespect towards the reader.
