I found GTA:SA a bit offensive as well, it just seemed to be sayign f*** and s*** purely for the hell of it, plus if i was an african american I would be extremely annoyed by the complete stereotyping in that game

I.e. im gonna go eat chicken, get dreads and shoot up some o ma niggers etc etc

sexual minigame(s) that are apparently in the game, whereby you have threesomes or whatever. I don't know the specifics but it's stuff like that, that makes me feel uncomfortable whilst playing a game. Hopefully you can skip it because quite frankly it's embarassing and I honestly wouldn't be caught dead playing that in front of my family/friends. I'm not sure if it's spoiler worthy but I put it in tags to be on the safe side.

I usually judge a game by how I think my parents would view it (and they usually frown upon sexual content in any form really) and/or how my family/friends would react to seeing it.
Yes you can skip mini game and you don't actually see anything anyway...

It's weird that I found the swearing really heavy going in that game, especially at the start and I really didn't think I would. I was quite surprised how it got to me.

As for racial stereotyping, well they were going for the 'Boyz in the Hood' gangsta-rap thing which is very much characterised by eating chicken and shoot up some o ma niggers and the like so I didn't really have a problem with that. Just as I didn't have a problem with the tired Italian mafia cliches in the earlier games. I see little difference. Whether racist or not, a large section of black people (and now many white kids) in certain areas embrace that glorified NWA mysogeny, violence and 'street values'. I have to say, I enjoy it as an outsider looking in. I think if I were a black man I would probably have serious problems with it.

Yeah I know, that post is a couple of months old and I've already played through most of the game since I made that post.

I say this is all honesty, folks: I think 50 Cent Bulletproof is the most irresponsible, needlessly violent and downright hillarious videogame I have ever played.

            But don't ask how/why I've played it. :P

I am offended by Konami in PES5 PC putting 'The Scum' (i.e The Sun) adboards around Anfield.

I suppose they could say it isn't Anfield...but still.

The Wu-Tang game was called Feel The Pain. I bought a Playstation for it, being (still) an avid fan. Never did play much of it though ...

I found san andreas uncomfortable to play, the characters all sit around smoking drugs, then when they are bored go out and kill someone. I found it quite horrific for some reason
I'm never offended by drugs or language (usually) or things like that, I found the GTA games uncomfortable to play for entirely different reasons (I thought they were ****e )

Absolutely. I always thought Ryo was gay (and not some Village People-type form of comedy "gheyness").

I played the games in the spirit of such.
Same here, I always thought there was some line in it where he almost said something to that effect to one of the other harbour workers? I need to play through it again this Christmas.

In reality though it's probably just like the Wizard of Oz, there's nothing really sexual in it at all but seeing as the media are so obsessed with the subject people read that sort of thing into it ("if they're not straight they MUST be gay").

Of course, Shenmue isn't quite as camp as the Wizard of Oz

I've never been really offended by a game. But I tend to avoid games (and films and books for that matter) that are graphically violent in a realistic way. Schlock horror. No problem. The ear cutting in Reservoir Dogs. No thanks.

Gaming-violence as a phenomena doesn't concern me one bit... I hate all kinds of censorship.

Blasting mutants and zombies and spraying their guts all over the place with a chainsaw is perfectly fine by me... However, I did raise an eyebrow when I played "The Warriors" recently (and GTA:SA before that... And Carmageddon years back).

Personally I don't like or very seldom use the option of inflicting realistic looking violence on "innocent" or "civilian" NPC's... I?d also rather choose the over-the top demon slaying action of Ninja Gaiden than the authentic-looking, head-kicking, bottle crushing, back-alley gore of The Warriors.
(I even felt like a bad person whenever I did something evil in Knights of The Old Republic!)

There's nothing more rewarding than defeating monsters and ridiculously evil bosses and all their sinister minions... But I do prefer killing them in numerous gruesome ways when they "deserve" it. As soon as they do, bring on the action!

Why can't just all enemies be robots, demons or de-generated mutants? Its a matter of personal taste... I try to be a good guy, even when playing games!

I don't like being evil in games either, and I don't like GTA just becuase I think the games are just pretty crap really. So i can see why you wouldn't enjoy those games but come on!!! The Warriors is so much fun, how could you not enjoy it?

Personally I have no problem at all with violence or mature themes in games, in fact I quite like them. But even if I did find a violent game offensive to be honest I think I like games too much for it ever to bother me if the game I was playing was as fun as the Warriors.

But maybe its just me that likes to beat on people in a psychotic manner...

I haven't read every reply in this thread so this might have been mentioned before.

I feel totally offended & shocked when some inept game devs (a small minority) get their hands on a movie licence or franchise and totally and utterly rape the IP and churn out what I believe is called "shovelware" on these forums.

                            The most recent "shovelware" titles that have actually made me "turn them off" in disgust are ;

Predator : Concrete Jungle / Developer Eurocom (anyone on here involded in this, hang your heads in shame)

Terminator 3 : Rise of the Machines (Not a great movie i'll admit but a truly, truly terrible game)

On the seperate gore issue, I gotta say that if a game features heads been chopped off and the use of a sickle to remove someones insides, as long as it is actually "playble" and a fairly tidy game design wise then it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Violence doesn't really offend me in games, but anything that features a little bit too much misogyny instantly turns me off. Warrior Within, with it's ridiculous clothing and the whatnot was a good example. The whole thing reeked of that sort of "Look at these chicks! HOT!" thing for fourteen year old virgins. I'm supposed to play this game in my living room? If somebody walked in and saw me playing it, i'd feel embarrased! Not that i'm against a bit of skin - I think God of War did it perfectly - It's just when it's far too much.

I'm offended by MMO's quite a bit, too. These companies are essentially trying to make money out of prying on peoples' addiction to a game. And not even a particularily good game, at that. It just seems ethically wrong, to be honest. Not to mention i've seen more than a couple of my gaming friends reduced into slaves to WoW, and I don't like it.

LOL!! That's laughably shocking!! I've yet to play it. My uncle would kick the f**k out the telly if he saw that.

Wasn't there an unofficial option file for PES3 that had 'Manc ****e' on the ManUtd badge?
