Ratchet and Clank and Greatest Hits

I'm just wondering about something... is it still possible to obtain the original versions (brand new) of ratchet and clank as well as ratchet and clank: going commando (ntsc versions), or are the only ones that are available now greatest ****s?

If your lucky you may find a store still carrying new copies of the original release but generally speaking most places will have the GH versions. eBay's probably worth a look.

Thanks Goss. It sucks. I wish they had a removable label on the packaging. Instead, it looks so cheap. Same goes for player's choice titles for the cube. I bought smash melee 2 years back for $29.99, and it was player's choice, but it had the player's choice logo actually written on the shrink wrap, thus it came off as soon as I opened the game. Wind waker is different, they had the player's choice label right on it.... wondering whether I should buy an earlier copy of wind waker and change the box art, as the player's choice label is so irritating.

Players Choice/Greatest Hits boxarts should be a criminal offence, they all look utter crap.

I know. You'd think that nintendo/sony/microsoft would think better, but no.

I believe that's a deliberate message by each company. Each design is saying to you - 'should have bought me when I first came out, you cheapskate'. They're hoping you'll pay full price next time.

One other quick question.... is the game cover the only thing that changes between the original and the player's choice versions? Or is there something new/different about the manuals/game disc, etc?

ps2 platinum games don't have the same disc art, they just have a generic sliver colour with text. Xbox has something similar

Do you know what's it like for gamecube games?

does it not depend on how well the title sold first time around? I.e. if they have alot of stock of a game, it'll have the original manual/disc inside, however if they'd completely sold out and this is a repress when it goes onto budget you tend to get budget designed manuals and discs as well as the outer box.

Definitely a games player, but lately my collecting side has definitely been rearing it's ugly head. In the case of ratchet and clank, I would have been happier getting the original versions as compared to their greatest hits counterparts, just because it looks better that way. With regard to the cube games, there's 1 or 2 games I bought as player's choice titles, but I don't really like the cover, so wouldn't mind buying an original one to replace it instead. Yes, I can be anal like that at times.

So what's the difference between Greatest Hits and Platinum? I have a few Greatest Hits titles and they all have normal disc art, atleast I think, no generic silver in any case. The only difference with the originals is a red bar on the cover saying Greatest Hits. Is this a different series from Platinum then?

Not sure about PAL versions but the US Player's Choice releases have an identical game disk and manual - the only difference is the cover which has a yellow Player's Chocie banner on it.
